Cap, value of my Bose L1?

Cap might know better, but from what I've experienced when trying to sell my Bose L1 stuff in 2020, the ballpark is whatever you can get for it.

The music store down the street from me has a single used L1 M2 with one sub for $850... it's been there for months. I have 2 L1 Model 1's with 4 B1 subs that I can't get anyone interested in, even at $1500 for everything. It seems that everyone's looking for smaller, lighter systems and nobody's got cash.

Yea, I'm at a loss. Looking on FB Marketplace, in Nashville it seems to be low. In Birmingham, there are several units, like mine and they're listed $1800-$2000. It's probably a pretty sucky time to try and sell of anything these days. I also have a bunch of studio gear I'm tired of looking at but know the pickers are sucking air right now.

It seems that anyone who went to the L1 Model II tended to also upgrade to the B2, which puts out better bass than two B1's IMO. My L1 Model2 B2 + ToneMatch was like $2100 new so if you're taking out $500 for the tone match that's $1600 for a brand new L1 Model 2 with a better sub than the B1's. Then factor in that the system is used (but still good condition). Personally, I'd advertise it for $1000 or $1100 and let them talk you down to $1000

Right now you'd be lucky to get $750 for them it's a buyers market. A pair here on FB marketplace sold for $1000...2 L1s and 4 B1's I missed it by about 10 minutes the guy started at $2200 last week. A pair of NX750's about a year old sold for $400. There's a lot more selling than buying right now if you can hold off I would

As I posted in the gear thread, you can get a brand new RCF J8 (black or white) for $750 ... That's one of the boxes you'd be up against.

Pretty wildly fluctuating price points posted on here. That tells me it's a crap shoot in the current market so if you want to protect your investment (and can afford to wait), it might be best to wait on selling.

Most gear is not an investment .. more of a sunk cost, so you need to factor in age, carrying costs (including storage), depreciation, etc. .. sometimes it's worth getting rid of even at a potential loss, as waiting may only see it come out even less.

I think things will pick up again, but vendors will be dropping prices as well to get some of the rebound activity, so it may be a long while before used gear prices come up .. and then you have to add a year or 2s worth of loss.

I dunno. I see where you're coming from but when I use the word investment, I mean an investment in your business, not necessarily an appreciating asset. When we buy quality equipment for our business, we are investing in our business. I think the Bose models hold their value pretty well. They're a respected name. Yes, everything depreciates to some degree. There will always be the newest and hottest thing advertised but Bose has a respected place in the audio arena. Personally, I'd rather not take a bath on a respected piece of audio equipment simply because I'm selling it at an inopportune time when it's a buyer's market IF I can wait until there is more of balance in that market. Kind of like stocks...It's a bit of a gamble without a crystal ball

It's always a gamble, but unless you bought those Bose at a tremendous discount, used gear is still only worth 40-60% of new. If it cost $2500, then I would expect it to sell from $1000-$1500 used. Gear doesn't generally go UP in value over time (I suppose there's a classic piece that might), so ditching it for $1200 today vs a "chance" at $1500 down the road, is something I would do in a heartbeat,

I suspect most people buying right now are scavenging and it's more like 89-90% off if you are selling

That would have been nice ... and that's Canadian .. probably close to $20 US .. :)

I sold a L1 model 2 with 2 b1's and a t1 for $1750 last year.

They still seem to bring good value around here.

New $2699..includes b2 , plus t1 is about $3199

Yes I still love mine😄

But can understand why all gear right now will be selling for less

We may or may not be going to Mexico next year so I've been watching it. It's about 74 on the dollar we are catching up ;)

Euro and the pound both down from when I was over there a few years ago, so might be worth a trip back with the wife.

Last time I was in the states it was 98 when I went down and went above par while I was there unfortunately American banks were still paying less than par
