How much money do you anticipate earning in May and June events?

LOL. You'd think this is the perfect time for a foreign power to invade and subdue the United States. Who knew - that all it takes to ward off world domination and occupation is a population obsessed with it's own boogers.

I've had every event cancel in the months of April, May and June. However, I've had about ten of the cancellations move to a date in 2021. At this rate, if it keeps up with all the other weddings planned for 2021 that were not forced to reschedule I will be so over loaded with opportunities in the coming year.

The problem now, will be how to handle all the gigs that will be scheduled in 2021????? I am a multi-op, but maybe not big enough to accommodate all the expectations.

It correlates to lost money because all of this year's weddings are going to be thrown into next year's weddings. W

Basically, if none of this occurred, we all could have worked this year's weddings, and next year's weddings resulting in zero potential income lost.

Instead we are going to lose a large chunk of would be bookings next year as many of those weddings look for alternatives such as friend of family/cousin/etc. or bring in the lesser known DJs to fill those open opportunities out there. Also, some couples that wanted to get married in 2021 will fall back to 2022 because the venue they wanted was not available or for other reasons due to the effects of the shut downs.

Also, SATURDAYS in season next year...Especially in the FALL of next year when we are back to having concerts etc. and hopefully completely opened back up and back to normal...Those September, October Saturdays next year will be VERY IN DEMAND. Probably more demand than we as an industry have ever experienced! If this plays out like I think it will, every DJ will be turning business away in the fall of 2021 because we are already booked, and maybe we missed opportunities to charge a premium for those dates even.

I also foresee many 2021 brides booking LATE...Many of them will wait until all this blows over before they book, and make sure their event happens. ...Mixed in with the 2020 post postponements. Next year is going to be Crazy.

This is all assuming we don't have an awful prolonged 2nd waive of the Virus even messing up 2021.

Zero as of right now. My next wedding is scheduled for end of July. I have a chance at making some on three local graduations. We are working on having drive up services possibly where everyone stays in their cars and listens via FM transmitter and then when their name is called they drive up to an overhang stage area, get out pickup their diploma and take a photo app then get back in their car and go back to their parking space.

You should be in the airline biz (off 96%..not 100%), restaurants they say are down 82% for the first part of april. And 95% of workers are laid off.

I had a wed final payment come in mid-march for april 18 wedding..which then got moved to a friday in october.

I'm selling "Senior Yard Signs" for the past week - bringing a couple of hundred bucks. Gonna try and turn this into more sales during the year.

Baseball/Soccer/first communion pictures are 40% of my annual income...and NOTHING is happening. PA says we're reopening May 8, but IF pictures happen it will be a couple of weeks. I doubt the leagues even have their uniforms..will parents let their kids play? Will they have money for pictures? Will any of even happen?

So...next income is for a june 6 wedding...will the June wedding happen? Will the other 2 June weddings happen?

Will the governor allow more than 10 people or 50 or whatever in one place at one time?

Will I still remember how to DJ?
What songs will have come out and will anyone know them over this time we've been hibernating?

I NEED spring sports and I could REALLY use the $600/week PUA....if they fail to arrise I'll be looking for a day job...and many other plans for the year will be put on hold. I need to hay late may/early june - I can work after that. The market garden? Not likely to happen...

I looked at my Calendar. Right now I have $0 worth of sales in May, and $0 worth of sales in June! ...And this is after a record setting $0 in sales for April!

I think things are going well! Definitely a busier year than previous years. You should always be growing sales as a DJ as time marches on in the Wedding industry! :thumbsright:🤑🥃

I think I'm going to need a few drinks this weekend. I use the term "few" loosely.

You will be post poning those June weddings for sure. ...Unless the clients decide to go against the rules set fourth.

NO events with over 50 people will be occurring for quite a while.

stop it with those negative waves, Moriarty.

Here's my thought - EVERY restaurant I've ever been in seats 100, 150, 200 or more. If they restrict it to what, 10 or 50 folks...many of these restaurants will be in dire financial trouble.

Imagine an applebees with 10 folks...or a denny's, etc. Not gonna happen. Even 50 isn't gonna work much of the day.

So if a restaurant can seat 100, 150...then weddings will go forth.

Also, a wedding is a PRIVATE event..not a public one like sports, movies, concerts. perhaps that will come into play.

During phase 1 of re openings only gatherings of 10 people allowed. Sorry, but restaurants still operating will only be doing carry out, curbside pick up, or delivery (if they offer that). We won't be going to sit in dine in restaurants during phase 1 (Unless your state changes that rule for phase 1).

Up to 50 guests is phase 2. ...Restuarants will be dealing with it as best as they can until phase 3.

It doesn't matter what the client wants the venue won't risk it

This is true, but I was assuming that maybe he had a event at someone's private property or house...An event like that, a client might decide to have their event.

On the other side of my neighborhood, one house decided to have a birthday party for their kid. They had a pinata bashing outside. I walked by when it was happening. They had about 30 people there, and over 10 kids in that line...not socially distanced.

Git yer butt out here to da cuntry, boy! We taint skeered of something we caint see!

Of of march 30 a venue was ready willing and able to do an april 18 wedding - the state got shut down mar 13.

Hotels and such may considering staying closed.

Fire halls? Parks (local county park here has 2 lodges that rent out 100% a year in advance)? Barns? LOTS of barns venues here.

I have a wedding at a casino in July- last I heard, 6 weeks ago, they told the couple make alternate plans just in case.
I also have a july wedding at a home...I'm sure they will go thru as planned.

It doesn't matter what the client wants the venue won't risk it

May is 100% cleared out.
June has 4 dates still booked. Those may move too.

My wife and I have full-time jobs so we are not as effected as some.

I actually like the break. I feel bad for the brides but we will do whatever is need to make their wedding perfect.
