Hello fellow dj's i have returned along with my quite regular posts but now im on the site again i hope to make less posts but better quality instead of boring crap or repeated threads. Now onto this thread's explanation so the best selling song of all time is
SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT/CANDLE IN THE WIND 97ELTON JOHN
But is this your favourite song certainly not mine so the best song of all time is just best selling?
Personally i think no its your favourite song ich makes it the best so what's your favourite song?

Considering you stated that it's the best selling song of all time .. means it is just that. It doesn't mean it's everyone's favorite. It also helps who you cite from, as they may be using different metrics.

My opinion is that it's a really nice song. I don't have a favorite song, as I like many - though I don't think anything from today fit's in the 'favorite' box.

According to Guinness World Records, this song is not listed as the Best Selling Single of all time, it is however the 2nd Best Selling at 33 million copies. It is the Best Selling Double A-Side Charity Single and is also the Best Selling Single since UK and US singles charts began in the 1950s (this is why it helps to cite references).

The number 1 slot, Best Selling Single Of All Time, goes to White Christmas by Bing Crosby with over 50 million copies. This song was released before the pop/rock singles-chart era .. and is a favorite of mine.

Based purely on sales, the McDonald's hamburger is likely the Best Burger of all time...and yet it wouldn't make a top 1000 list for best taste, best quality and/or best value.

No .. but that would make it the Best Selling Of All Time, which was what the OP was talking about. He then went on to ask what your favorite was, if it wasn't that.

QPw Cheese definitely their best effort, but Yankee pleeeze, I've had a dozen burgers in Boston alone that are EONs above anything Micky D's serves.

I don't disagree .. still the QPwC remains among my "standards" (though low they may be ... )

The title of the thread is not as you claim:

The OP did try to use sales figures as evidence, but, as stated by a few thereafter, sales rankings are merely a, single, one criteria and, apparently, not the "best."

BTW, the album (The Simpsons Sing the Blues) had many a star with performance or writing credits including: Michael Jackson, Buster Poindexter, BB King, Tower of Power, Joe Walsh, Jon Sebastian, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Will Smith (as Fresh Prince), and Dr. John. Michael Jackson co-wrote Do The Bartman and actually sings backup.

Went to #3 on the Hot 200 Album Chart as well as being certified Double Platinum ..
