I wonder if it's just me...or if this is effecting other dj's.....

I am quickly losing interest in "wishbooking" new gear... ive seen a big push from the big dj/music outlets....sales... giveaways...etc... and i truly feel for them... who in the world is spending money for new exciting gear in this uncertain climate? Hard to justify it when whole months of your calendar are wiping clean...

Im sure once the dust settles....spending and gear browsing will kick back in... Just not sure when the dust will finally settle...

I've been like that for a year or so. I spent very little comparatively on gear last year compared to other years. I find it takes me much longer to decide now too than it did in the past. That being said I picked up a MG10 for the bar this morning so maybe buying for others is holding me off a bit

Depends .. DJing will go on .. maybe in 2 months, maybe 4 or so ... but if you planned on adding/changing inventory, there's a lot of decent deals out there. I personally think things will go back to where they were .. we're social beings here.

I need to purchase 8 wireless Up Lights for a Wedding on May 16th that is still on our calendar. However, if that one gets post poned...then so be it.

Outside of those 8 lights, 2020 is done for gear purchases!

Well, you shouldn't buy them for one wedding .. if you think you need them for others, then go ahead.

I got my uplights, ordered a second wireless transmitter, so I can run them separate from dance lighting, some cords, glow party stuff (give aways, banner, 2 UV lights)-

The school dance i was gonna use for samples postponed...sold 3 uplights to already booked brides (at a discount, but they're half paid) then WHAM...the phone died.

I didn't have any other purchases planned at this point. Fixed an issue I had with my main mixer so no worries there (operator error...it sucks when you bump buttons you never use)

As long as nothing breaks...I'm good.

I planned to redo my lighting 'arrangement' with the new UV lights, and to change how I use my movers on the truss...,but since the school dance season appears to be over there's no rush. Perhaps this weekend as it's gonna rain rain rain yet again.

For me, gear buying is mostly out of the question at this point. All my extra money (and then some) is being thrown at this dang venue. I still have about $10k in HVAC gear to buy, not to mention paying for some more concrete work. Besides that, depending on what gigs (hopefully) finally start coming in, I'm looking to buy 10-15 more uplights. After that, my next wish list item is a pair of K12.2s. I'm really thinking to simplify and ditch the subs, at least for weddings.

I picked a poor time to finally try to sell my SZ2. I've been dragging my feet, and right after I listed it online all of this hit.

I pulled the listing - but I assume most DJs won't spend any unnecessary money for quite a while.

I just purchased a pair of subs b/c of the virus,....sort of. I had been putting the purchase off b/c of the cost, but the corona deal was too good to pass. 20% off + $100 off plus free financing for 24 months = A deal I could not pass up. I needed them anyways, this just helped me pull the trigger.

It's kinda hard not being a little discouraged about this venture.

Through no fault of your own the timing has been piss poor. I hate to say it but I think it will be 18-24 months before things are back to normal

An NPR station in Seattle, WA has quit broadcasting the Daily Caronavirus Task Force Press conference, because of the President’s alleged “missinformation”. On Monday, NPR published a story headlined, “FACT CHECK: Trump Says 50,000 Could Die From Flu. So Far, It’s Half That.”
NPR was forced to issue a correction on Wednesday saying; “The initial version of this story said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated there have been about 23,000 deaths during the current flu season. That figure is at the lowest end of the CDC's estimated range, which extends to 59,000”. So they corrected their own lie, but how many saw it?

I would have expected some of the rescheduled spring weddings to need a new home on dates you likely have open. Have you seen an uptick in calls looking for fall dates?
