Well, fake panic or not, it just cost me my first money. Dental conference that I've been doing A/V for the past several years, just called me to book last week, paid in full then this morning, cancelled and asked for a refund. It was for April 3rd. Bummer.
The PANIC is real. The reason for it is questionable. I could ask the same questions some are asking about why there was not similar panic in 2009 when the number of cases and deaths due to the H1N1 virus were MUCH higher than with Caronavirus, but what good would it do? The panic is unstoppable at this point anyway?

This one surprised me. It's a dental conference, maybe 200 dentists, and I provide sound for the presenter. They paid up-front and even included a $50 tip ($550 total). I really hated losing that bit of income. I'm only hoping my 4/10 prom doesn't blow out.

There is information out there that might give you reason not to panic. A 65 year old female guest on guest on Fox & Friends, who has recovered from the Coronavirus talked about her illness. She said she had a very low grade fever for a short time one day, but otherwise her symptoms were very mild. She said her husband is younger, but takes anti-rejection drugs due to an organ transplant, and he too had very mild symptoms. I wish I could find a video of the appearance so others could see it.😊 Maybe there would be less panic if more of this kinda thing was broadcast. Since this was broadcast on FOX News, CNN is looking to interview someone who has succumbed to the virus, but can’t find someone will to speak.😂

Please explain how you lose that income?

Please explain how he hasn't.
He said he hated to lose that bit of income. I didn't understand what he meant by that. If they canceled instead of him , my understanding is you keep whatever money has been paid to you. Unless you want to be a nice person and want to give them all their money back because of the circumstances.

We will get though this just like we got though 9/11, the banking collapse and a host of other recessions, downturns & etc. 9/11 caused a 3 month pause in books for me in both my corporate & college markets. Since all my corporate work was in NYC it hit hard but it came back until the banking collapse. I am writing off getting any college bookings until maybe August or September if lucky. Although this time this might be worst.
What do you do? Well, what ever it take to bring in money. Hopefully, you money put aside, find a temporary job, sell off stuff, retire early, borrow from the life insurance, whatever until things pickup or if you have to change careers. I won't touch your 401K because likely it will be lower.
Although not a discussion for now, later on your going to have to ask the hard questions. Why was the CDC cut, why no action until now if you knew about this since 12/19, how come no one listens to doctors & so on. We knew something, like this was coming like this was going to eventually happen. Local Doctors were preparing for this over a month ago. Large corporations got their tax break already so they will be fine, will likely get more & will write off their losses. They are talking about Low interest loans for the small guys but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
In a change of pace, was nice out so I decided to chill take a ride in a Tesla 3, almost didn't want to come back, lost track of time. Great car, really fun to drive. Since I had a deposit on a Model X 5 years ago they always call he to take test ride & when they have an event. As I got a call from my doctor earlier, they need to do some tests my heart. Now I needed something to cheer me up, so perfect timing.

If they canceled because you can't have an event .. then it was out of their control. In this scenario, if your intent is to not have any repeat business, then you didn't lose anything at this moment - but you are guaranteed to lose future income. If your intent is to have repeat business, then you lose something. I would think you could easily figure this one out.
