Cheap uplighting...?

im thinking you can fit 6 to 8 in a normal puck bag... these things are small.... gonna get some extra foam separators

I've made up most of my lighting 'containers', have some things in bags and some in hard cases. Most of the time I load my car (outback) and use a cosco 4 wheel dolly at the venue. I MUCH prefer hard cases that I can stack on there. Soft cases tend to fall off...

For bigger gigs I use my cargo trailer...it's used for many things so there's no dedicated shelving or racks in it. Once the floor is full I put things on top of things...here bags aren't too bad, the sit and don't slide like cases sometimes do.

Again, I use the dolly as much as I can. My EV subs have wheels of their own, and the lighting truss just sucks regardless.

I'd like a van I think..not as convenient as the trailer (no ramp) but a LOT easier to backup at night!

I want a tesla first though.

To be honest... after seeing the size of these lights... the case that only holds 6 is a huge waste of space... but if yours holds 10...it might be a good choice...

i have a Ford Transit Connect van and love it... the headroom is what makes it so valuable... before that i was loading into a Buick Enclave... and could only stack a couple levels.

price is close enough, but they don't offer the case...the convenience of charging all at one time in the case is hard to beat

If you go that route, be careful with that case. It's designed for the flat pucks which have the outlet positioned so they point up when the fixture is placed in the case. The Wedges have the outlet on one side and not sure it would be very accessible to charge while IN the case.

one thing i just now noticed about the wedges... if you accidentally touch any of the menu buttons it can change your settings...i wish you could program it to turn off the menu after a bit....any ideas steve?

Honestly, I have more issues inadvertently flipping the power switches when I put them into the carry bag. Maybe a piece of rectangular black foam with a hollowed out section placed over the buttons/switches with a piece of GAFF?

They seem to stay off when finally in the bag .. I think when I cup the top of the light over the lenses to pick them up, the switches are right at the fingertips and occasionally I hit them.

If you order direct from China right now, just be sure to have a can of Lysol ready. It would be prudent to disinfect the box, as well as the contents inside of the box...just as a precaution! :)

...Purchasing from US Retailer...the lights have likely been sitting in stock for the last 3+ months.

I would consider the rockville wedges if I knew how their output strength and shape compared to the other uplights like Taso uses offered on ebay or from Rainbow Lights US.

i sat them beside a wired adj hex puck light and they were as bright if not brighter... they are admittedly only 3 LED/diodes ...but they are a much larger LED/diode than the ones on the pars Taso uses.... but Rockville distributes those same lights as well...if you want them...

and heres a couple comparison vids

It’s not the brightness that’s of concern it’s the beam spread. I’d need at least 60 units to get the coverage that I’d want for some of my venues. That last video you posted shows the difference in spread very well. If they had the rock wedge w 60 degree beams then that would be a different story.

I feel ya... im not really dealing with giant columns or anything in my venues...so these will suit my needs quite well... might be nice if they did offer some sort of lens covers like the ape lab cans that can change the degree....

Better to rent at this point.
If you are getting more inquiries, that is a good sign.
But think about making some money off of rented cans...
and put the money aside to purchase your own should the inquiries continue.

And yes....go with battery powered.
Not all venues have outlets where you need them.

Buying RIGHT NOW forces you to go cheap...which obviously has it's drawbacks...
and at this point, there is no guarantee that the interest in uplights will continue.

Funny how different areas have different ways. In the last 10 years I've been asked 3 times I think about uplighting the last time being a couple of weeks ago. Uplighting is very popular but it's a decorator thing here and they only use a dozen max for any room I've seen

shape is triangular and said to fit inside a truss triangle space.

Brightness..depends what you need. IN a dark room anythign is bright. If you need outside or use in a bright room then you may need more/bigger/brighter lighting.

When I do photography and use a flash to say, do senior pictures, I might use full power to offset the sun, depending on how far back I am from them as light falls off / spreads over distance.
As sunset nears I often go to 1/8th or 1/16th as bright.

Similar for a wedding reception, once the dancing starts and the lights are turned down it takes very little light to captture the ambience - too much and it looks like they're dancing in a brightly lit walmart (aka ugly).

My LED dance lights are great in a dark-ish room. I play a venue that is open on 3 sides and sunset is 9, 930 during the summer...dance lights are pointless.

Until you explain the value of dmx control and how it can transform the whole feel of the party during the dancing,,, and because they only bring 12 I mention how I can really transform the room and immerse it in color w my 40 uplights... as opposed to a slight pop of color that they bring.

I found these - look like the chauvet at half the price...

And then this - again, looks the same at yet again half the price...

I bought 10 of these. 3 had bad wifi buttons and 1 had a lose socket also incorrect charging instructions. I retuned them
