To me it's not that surprising that they want "90s" country. The past couple of years I've seen a sharp increase in clients who really want that type of music and that's probably the most danceable, it's pretty line dance and two step specific.

I'm not on my work computer, so I can't give you exact playlists at this time, but I can certainly make some suggestions.

Garth Brooks-Long Neck Bottle
Garth Brooks-Callin' Baton Rogue
Garth Brooks-The Dance
Garth Brooks-Friends in Low Places
George Strait-Adalida
George Strait-All My Exes (Live in Texas)
George strait-I Cross My Heart
George Strait-Amarillo by Morning (I often times pair this with Jason Aldean's Amarillo Sky)
Mary Chapin Carpenter-Down At The Twist And Shout
Shania Twain-Man! I feel Like A woman
Shania Twain-Party for Two
Shania Twain-Any Man of Mine
Josh Turner-Firecracker
Josh Turner-Why Don't We Just Dance

Tracy Byrd-Watermelon Crawl
Tracy Byrd-Keeper of the Stars
Marty Stuart-Hillbilly Rock
Rednex-Cotton Eyed Joe
Zach Brown Band-Chicken Fried

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band-Fishin' In The Dark

Florida-Georgia Line-H.O.L.Y.
Florida-Georgia Line-Cruise

Collin Raye-Little Red Rodeo
Sammy Kershaw-Queen of My Double wide
Old Crow Medicine Show-Wagon Wheel (Darius Rucker version is good too)
Little Texas-God Blessed Texas
Vince Gill-When Will I Be Loved

Some non country songs you can get away with
Kenny Loggins-Footloose
Lynard Skynard-Sweet Home Alabama
Kid Rock-All Summer Long
Georgia Satellites-Keep Your Hands To Yourself
Blanco Brown-The Git Up
Don Henley-All She Wants to do is dance

Thomas Rhett has some covers of Bruno Mars stuff, but I'm not sure if they are commercially available. I also left out a lot of popular Red Dirt artists here since I'm not sure how popular they are north.Red Dirt Country is sometimes referred to as Texas Country. I also didn't hit the newer country as hard as I might but there are some good options there too.

Don't forget Blake Shelton (and other Country artists) redid the Footloose soundtrack. Justin Moore also redid some Rock as Country.

I prefer the original - the country line dancers prefer the Blake version, as they have a dance that goes to it. Fake ID is another dance as well.

Out here, almost everyone dances the line dance to the original song,. I think I've had Blake Shelton's song requested once. I used to ask what version they want, now I don't even bother. It's kind of like Wagon Wheel, nearly everyone prefer the version by Old Crow Medicine Show to the point that it's my default not the Darius Rucker version.

I have my doubts this will go very well

Unsure why you think this won't go well....I've done many wedding receptions with predominant or exclusive country. And have had very good success. I know my country music well and feel comfortable accommodating this genre. Maybe you don't feel the same.

Research and study up on the hits and read what others have posted….great advise.

A DJ who specializes in the business of providing a music should be capable of servicing any music request.

You can do the same, go and work hard to be prepared with this music selection with confidence. You can do it.

My couple for this Saturday really loves country music.
Fortunately, this is the 5th gig for the same family, so they know what works for their crowd...
and they KNOW that country is HIT or MISS.
So I suggested we try a few, and see what happens.

It really helps to have clients that understand...
and feel that a great party is more important than their own musical preferences.

I would ask for a song list, that includes optional alternatives in case she changes her mind and wants to change things up. if she thinks things are not going so well. Make her a song list of optional songs and include her request. Put them on a thumb drive and give it to her to sample before the big day. Ask her to add or delete what ever she likes or doesn't like. Add your suggestions in the sample that you have found to be successful at other country weddings and have her check off all the songs she wants. Print them in order on paper and have her put a check or X by each song. Or if she has a PC she can simply add or delete what ever she wants.
It's there event, play what they want or don't do it............. But I do agree if the DJ doesn't like the music, or doesn't relate to the genre it's going to be difficult for them to let the artist part of the DJ out, it's not going to be as a good of a show. The DJ doesn't just play music, he/she uses the music as a tool artistically. Because there are just someone that plays recorded music, or they can use the music to put on a show.

My question to you is did you find out the bride wanted all Country Music before or after you signed the contract? I suggest that you ask the bride for her favorite Country songs. Also I agree with asking the bride if things are not going well will you be allowed to change things up a bit? You don't want to step on the brides toes. At the same time I would want that discussion at the wedding.

Now as one DJ said they are not the right DJ for such a wedding and would decline doing the wedding. Can you handle this wedding with a bride only wanting Country Music?

Sorry I meant to say I wouldn't want that discussion at the wedding.

You did ask if things will work or be a bust? That right there says you're not feeling it doing a wedding with just Country Music. This situation depends a lot on the guests attending the wedding and if you get it right about when to play what.

I am familiar with country music...BUT...I don't know it like I do the stuff I play all the time.

Two Black Cadillacs is a great song - but not at a wedding. LOL

Some folks dance to country music - 2 step, line dances, etc. Boot scoot n boogie, fine. Much beyond that I've no clue. Sure, country girl shake it for me works, but do people dance to 'pontoon', 'water', do ya think my tractor is sexy? I don't know...and THAT will be my challenge!
