Get 45% off a 20 year old software compatible with 13 year old controllers that are no longer supported.
Who are these people and WTF are they thinking?

One scam was enough.

Updates are obnoxiously slow. Still fake news to call the software 20 years old and a scam. It's been out 20 years but updated. But don't let the truth get in your way.

I'm not defending the software and no longer reccomded it because of the slow updates. But spreading misinformation helps no one.

Let me know when thee's an update that will make the software actually work.

To be fair, the software is actually "ok".

I was an early adopter at the back end of the '90s, paying less than $50AU that has entitled me to free updates ever since. I actually stopped using it in 2011 when I started using DJ controllers with Serato.

OtsAV still contains some features that current DJ software cannot compete with. Its auto DJ mode is better than anything else on the market today and its built-in audio processing with AGC/compressor/limiter is still groundbreaking. It's also actually really reliable too.

The only downside is that it doesn't look great and updates are few and far between. The fact I still get emails asking me to buy new licenses is a bit annoying considering they don't really support any new technology. That said, I know DJ's who are still using it and still rave about it.

Would I ever go back to using it mainstream at events? No....but I do use it to create my own bespoke background music files, perfect for when you need to stick a 3hr mix on just to get you through a dinner event or similar.

As for the comment above "Let me know when thee's an update that will make the software actually work." - well, the software actually works now so i'm not sure exactly what you mean.

If you actually meant to say "Let me know when there's an update that will make the software work with today's controllers" then yep, I agree...I look forward to that day if it ever arrives. Having said that, you could plug it in yourself if you're happy to learn the code needed to make it happen. After all, it's just midi signals, and OtsAV has a built in API to allow you to map the signals from your controller to functions within the software, so it's not impossible.

Consider that the name of the program is: Ots AV.

It doesn't work as a reliable video player, and hasn't since WIndows XP because it renders video overlays using an unstable method abandoned and explicitly warned against by Microsoft. It's one thing not to update your product, but quite another to lie about it's capability and continue to promote and sell it without disclosure of this serious flaw.

Are Pitch, Tempo, and Direction (I think?) separate controls on any piece of gear?

Yes. on studio gear.

Ots originated as radio and streaming automation software so, that's why it''s music management is an expanded database query system and the interface includes so many studio like features. It had the potential to become the PlayBack Pro for Windows based machines but they were too cocky and perhaps lacked the capital to follow through.
