My guess on this question is when I retire from Djing? An obsession can hit and I'm trying to figure out how to get another piece of equipment. I'm a recovering addict and as such there's never enough of anything. If it makes me feel good I will chase after it. What stops me sometimes is the bills that need to be paid.

Bottom line is I'm asking are you satisfied with what you have right now or are you still looking for more?

Mix what is you equipment budget for 2020?

What would you need to buy Mix ???? A pair of 8" speakers would be enough for the crowd sizes you have shown us. You can trade all your speakers and amps in, get a nice new set of QSC K8.2, you'll be able to handle them yourself, and you'll have money left over to pay for tires and parking.

And i'll add sell all your lighting and buy a gig bar...15 minutes you're in and setup

I try to be constantly aware of new product that could either improve the product I provide, or make my life easier while I'm doing it. For my business, those are essentially the metrics I'm looking for.

I've added multiple pieces this year for that reason, and if I find something else that meets the bill... I'll buy that too. But I'm not obsessed with buying gear just to have more crap.

I'm trying to run a business, and treat it as such.

Not if it keeps working just fine and you're happy with the results you're getting.
Assuming the gear doesn't get beat up, left in water, dropped, yada yada ..

I am at the point were I am virtually done buying sound equipment. I do plan on adding more up lighting and trussing. More wireless up lighting. more speaker stands. Just bought another MacBook pro 15" for a backup computer. other than that I am pretty satisfied and putting all my extra funds towards paying off debt.

It's also much easier to stop buying gear when you buy good stuff. If you go cheap... you never really scratch the itch because you'll end up fawning over these set ups that other DJs do. If you're proud of what you have... there isn't as much of an instinct to keep "upgrading" because you're already at a good level.

I plan to purchase 8 more 18 watt x 6 Up Lights from China at some point. Probably not until next year. It will likely be the only gear purchase in 2020 I can think of.

I plan to buy a Yamaha MG10XU mixer which I will try to do on Black Friday or Cyber Monday on a deal hopefully. I also need to buy a new Laptop as my HP is 6.5 years old, and the keyboard has gone bad on it (Using a Bluetooth keyboard to type right now!). I will be buying that in the next week or two.

I am done with lighting effects purchases. If I need anything else in the future for a higher end effect lighting package, I plan to rent them somehow.

I am selling off all my older up lights this winter. Will also sell my old Numark CD Mix 1. It is a nostalgic piece of equipment, bit I know I won't
use it again. I can't see my 10 year old son using it in the future. I still have my blue tooth Numark CD Mix so I will keep that around a long time.

I can see myself eventually purchasing another custom facade or table top facade, but probably 2 years down the road on that.

You want to buy lots equipment? The Easiest way is to make money using it. No money made DJing, No equipment. You make DJing then you can spend it on buying more equipment, but just call it what it is a hobby. But if you have issues maybe that should be handled first. One thing I found is people who aren’t busy spend more money than people who are. If you are working, volunteering, Exercising, staying very busy you don’t have the time to think about buying things or even shopping. I remember when I was young I was so busy I’d forget to eat( yes that was long ago). I’d stop by to see my mom finally sit down and tell her I feel tried & dizzy. Then she’d ask when was the last ate? One time I was out at LDI in Dallas and went almost 24hr without eating. I had a day off and a list of places to see/visit and didn’t have time to eat. Likely now that’s why I Have a few extra pounds, I call it stored energy in case I miss a few meals. So, if I am stranded on a deserted island with no food I should be good for about a week.
