Hey Chris, I have another poll for you! :)

Only Equipment/Gear/Lights. Excludes Cables/Cords.

I was thinking about all of the gear that I routinely use. Almost all of the gear I use NOW was purchased 2013 or later at this point. However, there are 3 things I still use that is 10 years or older

- A 8 switch MBT Power Center. I use it for plugging mics into, and controlling some lights. Sticker on it says it was manufactured in Feb. 2006
- A CASE LOGIC BAG that is VERY padded, and it was a hand me down from my Dad. He bought it way back in like 1989. I think it was meant for carrying tapes around. I use it for transporting most of my microphone systems. It is rugged, and has lasted all these years between 2 DJs. I think he gave it to me when I started in like '99.
-A SHURE PGX Mirophone system. I purchased it off of EBAY in 2009...Pretty sure of that. I still use it today, so that is now 10 years old. The carry case that came with it has been a tremendous help in keeping that system alive this long.

Other things that are in storage, but never get use any more include a Numark CD Mix 1 purchased in 2007, and a Harper Cart Dolly I bought from Wal Mart back in 2009 for $38.99 at the time. Great dolly, but I have not used it in a long time now. It just sits, but I am keeping it around. Not worth getting rid of.

lol...though you could trim a few of these down....atleast its in some form of order...and fairly sensible... lol...i will allow it

I'm lost - does the age of gear have impact on income?

In a way yes..The older it is the less you spent and the more you have made

You made me think Ricky...I think my speakers are 9 but they may be 10. My laptop is 12. I have a 30+ year old mic I occasionally use and a few that got to be close to 20. A few light cases that are close to a decade old.

I change wires usually every year to a year and a half. I have a full hockey bag with perfectly good wires that I've replaced

Including myself, most of my gear is older than 10 years (DOES NOT INCLUDE MY LEVEL OF MATURITY).

Newest gear = controller, controller case, gear bag, microphones and ceremony speakers.

All other gear, tried & true and knockin' the bottom out!

There may be a few mic cables that are over 10, but I don't use those often.

I have several sennheiser mics, wireless and wired, over 10 yrs old
2 compacts 2009
2 l1 model 1 2005
2 l1 model 2’s 2009
6 b1’s
2 t1 mixers 2009

by the way, Bose no longer services the model 1, and it's obviously way out of warranty. But when I called customer service because there was something not right with a unit after 14 years, they offered me a significant discount to purchase a current model. If a company out there is looking for a way to develop loyal customers and not have to get bought out/merged over and over, this would be a good start.

My 2 Technics turntables are the only pieces of gear that I use regularly that are over 10 years old. I have a passive sound system that is older and well maintained but I never get the opportunity to bring it out any more.

I'm with Steve... I might have a mic cable that old. But everything else has been cycled out.

I'm probably pushing 8-9 years on my oldest Bose L1 Compact, but other than that I've replaced everything else I use.

Started back from scratch a couple years ago...so everything is within that age.... i did hold on to my favorite mic...an EV i bought in 93... the shaft was cracked in half and i priced a replacement piece at about 15 dollars....but i just ended up replacing it with 58's

All my passive speakers, subs amps & processors are over or approaching 20 years. My powered speakers I just found out are 10 years ago. My inflatable screens are almost 10, the first ones I got are close to 20 years old . The newest stuff would be the laptops, iPads, video projectors & vehicles. There is relationship between income an item generates which translates in greater profits over time. But the longer you have been in business the older the equipment might have around . Early on I used to upgrade fairly often until I got to the point where the stuff was of quality and designed to last/perform. Currently anything purchased has to produce, solve a issue or improve something. Or the biggest issue reducing weight & size.

A wise man taught me a long time ago and I learned the value of the lesson through enough failure to heed, that it is wiser to buy after considered evaluation and based on highest quality, value and longevity than to buy cheap and often.

I had three pieces, but threw one away not too long ago, so down to two pieces, my 2nd Radio Shack mixer I bought in 2005 ( 4 chn) and the Gemini dual deck CD player I bought in 2006, the CD player, it kind of works , when it will read the CD, its time to part with it.

LOL, I have a Midas mixer from the 60's that I have rebuilt, works great, I have tube amps from the 70's that are rebuilt, I have re conned the same speakers twice now first time about 15 years ago, second time 5 years a go. I have lots of gear that is 20 to 30 years old, and I still use most of it 3 or 4 times a month
