Hi Guys,

We had a quick server migration this afternoon. I'd noticed quite a bit of sluggishness on the old server especially when it came to database commits (submitting posts or adding likes). We were rubbing up against the RAM limit on our old server. An upgrade with the current provider would've doubled my monthly cost; It was just to expensive. A good friend of mine has been kind enough to lease us some space on his beast of a server. We should good to go for quite a long time now. If you notice anything not working right or out of order please let me know here.

Thanks,
Dan

Just a heads up Dan.... the board is slow for me today... i noticed when i click "like" on a post i get a little red buffering bar and it takes around 4 seconds to finish before adding the like

Thanks Chris. Just noticing this myself. When we first moved onto this server page loads and commits (likes, posts etc) were flying along. Now seeing some delays across the board myself. Probably just some tweaks needed. Will work on it with my buddy.

noticed something else...i no longer get email notifications of activity on here like i used to....its fine...no biggie...but for anyone who wants that...it seems to be gone

Thanks Chris. That should *just work*. I'll take a look at it before I sign off for the day.

On the speed issue. The server host mentioned pausing our CDN service to see what happens. The server is physically hosted in Russia. There just a plain distance issue to overcome when doing commits (posting, liking, etc) but his site runs the same software as us and runs fine. We'll get this figured out.

I know this is pretty basic but those are you that are having speed issues please clear your cache. Sometimes when sites servers it 'confuses' (for lack of a better term) your local cache.
If I clear cache I have to remember too many passwords ..

CDN? Does that mean pausing the Canadians?

We cannot pause the great @Jeff Romard and our other Canadian friends. :monooh: I'm sure you already know but for those who don't CDN = content delivery network. It serves static files from servers closest to the client. It speeds things up considerably but can sometimes mess with JavaScipt which runs a lot off features of this site.
