I am COMPLETELY revamping the lighting for our clients. Since we only do weddings, I was looking for a bit of a higher end look. So, we just invested in a few Chauvet Intimidator Spot 360's.

We plan on using totems for these lights but we're thinking of going with the black scrims and not the white. Does anyone do this, or does everyone use the white scrims and light them? We can do either but I am going for somewhat of a unique look.

Let's see your pictures of your wedding setups with movers and totems!

Thanks!

I like the candles in front of your sub idea (to prevent tripping I assume?). Question, if you're worried about tripping hazard, why not put the sub beside you (behind the top tripod or even back against the wall? Better still, why not just use it in place of one of the tripods?

I do white or black scrims based on the venue and the look I'm trying to achieve. I prefer black, but for a white tented event... the white made more sense to blend in:

Is that your uplighting in front of the scrim? Does that work better then uplighting from inside the white scrims?

It is mine. I like the look of uplighting the outside more than inside. But I want to get a white sconce cover for the lights so you can't see the black fixture in front of it.

It's just a preference thing for me. But I've always liked having the light on the outside.

Well yea, it's obvious those are battery candles but I was just uber-impressed, thinking you'd brought candles to mark off your sub to keep guests from tripping. Guess I over-estimated on your level of details. ;)

I tried a different approach to mounting my lighting this weekend. Not sure I like it yet. Trying to figure it out.

Not a fan of the mish mosh of white and black equipment. A dj really needs to make a choice of one or the other and run with it... or choose a particular color to highlight and hide the rest in the shadows...

Say if you had white speakers.... those moving heads wouldnt stand out as bad... and you could lose the other effect lights and maybe get away with black uplights because the stark contrast isnt visable due to their location.

Also...for symmetry... i notice your lights are all doing different colors... are they on a random chase or are you dmx'ing them?
