Let me get this straight... The ONE THING you WON'T post about in this thread is anything about DJ GEAR???... on a DJ Forum???... Anything else, you'll post about???:-/

I think I'm gonna quit DJing and become a MOTAUR...

.... What could be better than being a Motaur???... Just as long as you're OK with your dick being inside a gas tank.. might burn a little, but I guess ya get used to it.
I posted it twice what we're using for this event.

I must have missed it. Post it again![emoji4]

Ok here we go again. 2 Yorkville 801p subs, 2 Yamaha DSR 115 tops, 2 double 15's, 2 Mackie Thumps for the people performing on stage, dual wireless microphones, corded mic, mixing board, both our setups so we can play music for the event. That also includes my Pioneer EFX 500. And of course the wires to hook up everything.

I never said what we have is garbage because it certainly isn't. I said that what we have is not anything close to what the other guys have. They won't be there anyway because he was trying to get them to do it for free.

Just don't sit on the stage this year .. the videos won't help your marketing cause.

GARBAGE???... Did I post anything about GARBAGE???... I’ve heard of thinking out loud, but never heard of PRECOGNITIVE POSTING!!![emoji1] Maybe it’s one of the powers I acquired when I became a MoTaur???[emoji1]
You've missed the point. What everyone has been trying to tell you is that there is no reason to quit DJing just because you've become a moTaur! Sure, it will have it's limitations, but if you think outside of the box, it could have some benefits no one else has

I already posted what we're using earlier. The 2 Yorkville 801p subs, 2 Yamaha DSR tops, dual 15's, Mackie Thumps for the people performing on stage, mixing board, dual wireless mics and one corded, and our 2 setups so we can play. Remember all of this for $400 for an 8 1/2 hour event.

Now to talk about what Taso posted, I understand we could offer even more to really be super impressive. The thing is as I think Taso will agree that depending on the price a person wants to pay there should be limits on what you bring to an event. My point being that Taso has a starting price of $2,000. That's a great starting price but from what he has posted in the past that you don't get everything he offers for that price. What I'm saying is you have to establish some limits. So for the amount he has paid us this is what he gets. Others in the business that know us agree with us. This is what we're bringing to the event. End of discussion.
You still missed the point as you're trying to focus on my "Extras", but you're just focusing on the base aspects. However, in a sense the principal still applies I suppose. Let me try to rephrase this.

If someone calls me and wants my dj services only (sound only) for which I quote $2000 (includes 2 tops and 2 subs).. and they say nah thats too much, I can only pay $1000... its up to me to go out for $1000 with two tops and 2 subs... I'll NEVER say, fine I can do it, but I'll bring less equipment to do the job. Instead of providing the best, you always look to provide the bare minimum. I never find ways to cut corners to make the job work... I'll either accept to work for the discounted price or tell them I can't do it.

Even when it comes to the bigger packages... never will I say, well I guess if I do the tv's without my expensive hd mixers, and using a switcher that has a delay before switching inputs, and with 47" tv's that can be carried by one person instead of 65" that need, despite it being a large sized venue that would be better with larger screens. That would NEVER happen with me.

But for you... it's just how you do business... which is why you don't get better business... because you never do anything to impress... you instead bring the bare minimum because you have a gripe about how much is willing to pay... despite you ACCEPTING that amount.

I get what you’re saying... By “benefits” you’re referring to my TAILPIPES. Yeah, I get that, but I try not to focus on what I have that others don’t. I think it’s much smarter to focus on what I’m not getting that I deserve.[emoji1]

This reminds me of a friend of mine. He used to be the janitor at the Private Place Lounge. He formed a committee to re open club Zanzabar. They told my partner they were gonna install 8 CV Earthquakes running on 4 qsc amps. I said people gonna laugh at you like you might as well have brought a boombox. Anyway, the guy i talked to said he had a 2008 laptop he would sell me for 900 dollars...with a rolling bag thrown in for free... i talked to my partner who said he would use it if i bought it. So it's kinda like we split the cost. The rolling bag is so nice though. Not sure what brand the computer is... but i think its got Java.

You forgot the part about White Castle.

Mix .. What Taso is saying is is do it properly or don't do it, because NO ONE will care what he paid, only what you sound like. If you can bring 12 speakers for the 20 people at the handball court, you can probably bring it for the hundreds that might be here .. then you can decide to tell the promoter that "We can't do it next year ... but thank you for thinking of us" or something like that.

If this type of thing is what you want to do, then make it sound and look good ... rent proper crossovers, rent high quality wireless mics (and no, $99 mics don't qualify as high quality), AND hire someone who knows what they are doing to tune things for you. Consider the whole event as a marketing vehicle ... "Hey this is what we do!!" and stop worrying about the $50 sh*t.

THIS...

I never find ways to cut corners to make the job work... I'll either accept to work for the discounted price or tell them I can't do it.

AND THIS....

do it properly or don't do it, because NO ONE will care what he paid, only what you sound like.

Since it is a charity, and not about how much you're getting paid...
the benefits of doing this gig are:

1- Free promotion. A lot of people get to see you work, and see what you have to offer as a DJ.
2- A good first impression. They will think you are a kind and generous soul for "donating" your services.

Oh .. and LOSE the "disrespecting us" attitude .. respect is earned , and I don't see where you earned it from them. You might have been nice, might have been accommodating .. might even have been viewed as adequate, but respect is a tall order that not everyone gets.

I got a question for all here. Forget right now about how much you were getting paid. Stay away from that. If you were doing the event in the park what would you bring to do this event with?

Everything but a complaining, whining, prone to sit partner.

Obviously you can't stay away from 'how much you were getting paid' because that's what you seem to be worried about. You've heard MANY people tell you to do it right or don't do it at all - and if money is no concern, then you put your best foot forward - ESPECIALLY for a charity. If you want it to sound right, then you either do it at no extra cost - or you decline the event. If you don't like the person or they don't like you, then you walk away.

We all know that whatever our responses are, you'll turn it into a money issue.
