Sadly i feel we fit into the latter category...as im sure the locals here would concur

I use a custom table/facade (forgot who makes it). Almost never use a venue table anymore. There's also a folding, 6-foot in my van, just in case. I've never understood the mentality of just expecting the venue to supply you one.

For at least the last 20 years, I've brought my own table. Before that, twice within a month's period, I had my facility provided tables collapse. As usual, no matter why the train goes off the track, it's the DJ's fault. Since then, I'm self-sufficient even to the point of having the Honda EU2000 on the ready for needed power.
Extra work? Yes. Extra expense? Yes. Another sales separation from the herd point? Yes.
Since going totally digital, the need for tabletop space has shrunk commensurately. My facade is only 4' wide with 2' wings on each side. Instead of a table, I use a workshop collapsible workbench. Easy up; easy down, storage/transport space is minimal.

I keep 5 tables in my trailer, If the venue has a 6 foot or 8 foot table I use that if not I use my own. It really isn't a big deal to me either way. I require at least a 4 footer but I usually use a 6 foot because that is what my table top façade requires. I have a big ground façade but honestly don't use it much. Tables are something that every Dj should carry though just in case no sense in leaving home without one.
90% of the time, I use a table provided by the venue or catering team. I normally coordinate with the planner or client to express my preference for a 6 footer.
But if I'm doing a gig that isn't likely to have a high quality catering team, I'll definitely bring my own.

I always bring my own table now. I didn't always bring one and it backfired on me a couple of times. I had to learn from experience. It's just one less thing for me to worry about.
I bring a 4' table and skirting. I will use a venue's table if it's solid, 4-6' in length, and already covered to match other tables (I only bring black skirts).
Decided to try out black scrims for non wedding events... starting this weekend... will see if i like the look....i end up washing the white ones every single event...floors are so dusty ...such a pain

I had white at one point, but apparently I'm not as cautious as I needed to be .. they looked dingy after a few uses and a wash .. black ever since. Since I don't do weddings, it hasn't been a color issue.
yeah...mine wash up nicely so far...but the minute i put them down the bottom is dingey
id honestly love a different facade for weddings... just to change it up a bit... maybe this in white...

My contract specifies that 8'ft rectangular banquet table to be provided by the Bride & Groom. I also carry a 4x2" table (Lifetime). It lays on the second row seat of the Highlander where I am able to slide CD Road Cases (no longer use CD), but my rock-n-roller lays upside down with assorted totes on top.
I've had to use my own table on occasion because the venue forgot or didn't read the contract provided by the B&G. My footprint is smaller now so I use my own 4-ft. with table skirt (provided by me). Many times the venue never provided a skirt. White table cloth looks good but cords seriously make the setup look ugly.
Meaning, they were providing a linen, but not the skirting?
Venue's have NO, NONE, ZERO responsibility or duty to provide third party vendors with gear.
