I use Tap-a-Talk only when travelling .. so much easier through a browser.

Well... They did it again... I noticed TapaTalk crashing fairly often the last couple of days, AND it runs my battery down more quickly than it had been. Sure enough, I got ANOTHER UPDATE on June 8th...

GEEZ!!!... These a the most incompetent programmers of all time. “Fix major bugs”!!!... This app has been around TOO long to HAVE major bugs. Do they do any kind of quality testing??? They need to just STOP fixing stuff, because it’s NOT fixing.[emoji1]

They released an update to the plugin on my side a few days ago. I just tried to install it and got an error. The change log (Tapatalk for XenForo Plugin - Release Announcement and Changelog - (https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tapatalksupport/tapatalk-for-xenforo-plugin-release-announcement-a-t5533-s9999.html#footer)) doesn't list any performance improvements.

My guess is the ZIP just isn't packaged properly but I'm not manually uploading an update that they cannot even package properly. Hopefully TaT issues another patch soon.

My mistake this plugin requires a folder outside of the usual folders plugins are restricted to so it needs a manual upload. Update installed. Maybe it helps your performance issues.

UH-OH... Just got another TapaTalk update. It’s dated June 11, which is 3 days older than the previous update, but I’m pretty sure it just appeared on my phone. I went ahead and ran it... What the heck???[emoji4]... Couldn’t get any worse. It was crashing 2-3 times a day... usually as I was typing up my post. I was at the point of typing my text in another app, then pasting it into TapaTalk... Even then it sometimes crashed when I tried to post it. Hopefully they fixed the crashes. It would be a bonus if they fixed the excessive battery consumption too.[emoji1]

It seems like they've gotten worse integrating with 3rd party software (Xenforo, vBulletin, etc) since they rolled out their own hosted forum package last year. TaT was never great in the first place - it's was just the easiest way to get mobile functionality a few years back when most forum layouts weren't responsive and broke on mobile browsers.

I wish I had something more concrete tell you than hope the next update will be better.:embarrassed:

So TapaTalk started doing some new funkiness lately, so I decided to check to see if it was recently updated...

... and YEP... two days ago. Now if you give a post a “Like”, it pops up a box asking if you want to give “Kin” to the person who posted...

... GREAT!!!... Another new screen I have to cancel out of.[emoji1] I did finally check the option not to show that message again. I have no idea what “kin” is (other than a relative), but would never give my relatives to anyone on this forum, except maybe Mix. He deserves them.[emoji1]

Not sure yet what other stupid stuff they’ve done to TapaTalk, but it seems it’s no longer draining my iPhone battery at an outrageous clip, so maybe they fixed that bug. However, I’m sure they introduced new bugs; I just haven’t run across them yet.

Don't give ME any more relatives .. it's tough handling some of the ones I have now !

Well... haven’t discovered many new bugs yet, but there is ONE really annoying one. When somebody posts to one of the threads to which I’ve subscribed, I get a message that pops up at the top of my iPhone. That’s fine, but then, many minutes later I get a duplicate notification, usually long after I’ve already read the post. The thing is, the notification only says stuff like @steve999 has replied to thread so-and-so, or @steve999 has quoted your post in so-and-so...

...making it impossible to know if it’s a new post, or a duplicate notification. So I go to the thread, only to find there’s nothing new there. OK; it’s not the WORST bug in the history of software, but it is annoying.

@DJ Bobcat I didn't mean for your post to go two weeks without a reply. I'd bookmarked it for follow up but really didn't know what to say. I switched back to my iPhone the other day. I installed TaT and plan on playing with it a bit. Hopefully I can figure out the bug and report it to the devs.
