I had to get another PC today.

I really can’t believe a good salesmen would let you walk away not knowing what type of processor you have when it’s one of the first things you should have discussed. It’s like buy a car and never asking what’s under the hood.

Do you really think the lack of information is the fault of the salesman?

I' m trying to pick out my outfit for Sat gig.
Just put in a new toilet.
American Standard , you know , the one that will hangle 12 golf balls.

I went with Dell because I was told to stay away from HP. I found out from the guy HP was split into 2 parts. Consumer and business computers. So far so good for a used PC. It comes with a one month warranty. Just got to wait to look to reset my regular email address because I kept trying to reset my password and I ran out of trys till later.

Dell is split in to business and consumer computers too. So are most of them.

You should use that warranty to get a new keyboard something USB instead of PS2

Good point![emoji4]... And why should the fact that a company makes a wide range of models be a negative???... You just buy the model that meets your requirements. I recently bought my wife a really nice HP laptop... consumer grade, but I could see using it as a DJ computer. It’s well built.

I've mentioned it before. I used to buy business lines (Dell Latitude mostly), but there is less and less difference in the builds these days. I like gaming machines for DJ work .. seem to have decent components and better than average performance. And they still cost 1/2 what a Macbook Pro goes for ...

I think that's what I'm doing the next time I need one. My 11 year old Inspiron plays video much better than my newer models so that tells me the newer consumer models are lacking somewhere

I don't know about that. Go to Micro Center and see how much a gaming computer cost. They have some costing $1,500-2k.

You can overpay for anything. You can also know how to look for better pricing.

I bought a used Dell Latitude a couple of years ago to replace my aging Acer Laptop. It was only purchased as an interim solution when I spent my computer budget to buy another computer. As you may recall, I was debating whether to buy a new Asus gaming laptop or an iMac. I ended up buying the iMac. The iMac ended up in my office instead of my Small System, and the Acre Laptop is now a Linux Laptop. The Dell Latitude has been my primary laptop for the past two years, and it’s still doing GREAT!!! However, it was almost 4 years old when I bought it, so it’s nearly 6 years old now. That’s pretty old. It’s still running Windows 7; one of only two Windows 7 computers remaining in my inventory. Not sure what I’m gonna buy next???... A gaming PC is a good possibility. I’m not in a hurry to buy something, but not gonna wait until the Dell Latitude craters either.

This one is probably close to the current version of the one I bought a few years ago ...

Good as defined by what? What are you really selling if the buyer doesn't know any difference - and then gives you 'free' stuff too? In this scenario, the seller comes off as a great person. This happens in sales alot more than you might think, especially the vehicle market.

If you don't know or understand what any of it is (and the seller is able to tell), what difference does it make?

I’m still waiting for @MIXMASTERMACHOM to tell us what kind of computer it is. I gave him everything needed to find out.

If he’s not gonna tell us about the computer, then I don’t understand what this thread is all about??? What was the point???[emoji1]

Actually, I never let a client leave without a basic understand of what they buying based on their needs. Sometimes it’s a PC a Mac, a Chromebook or a even a iPad. But I have to say in all my years I’ve never really met anyone totally clueless yet. Pain in the azz, ball busters yes, most just need things explained is a way they can understand. But yes it can be subjective.
