I ordered a 10U Case (Gator GR-10L) and a RJ45 snake (1 50' Ethercon cable and 2 breakout boxes for each end) from Thomann in Germany. Thomann is Europe's largest music dealer. The prices were substantially less than I can get them here even with the fixed $35 shipping. They've been cut off from some of the hotter brands (ADJ, Bose, etc) that were available earlier in the year, but not now.

Ordered yesterday .. I'll update this when it comes in, but might be an option for some products.

Thomann's US focused site is Thomann - Welcome Home! - (http://thomannmusic.com)

Might have to adjust the currency/language at top to see US pricing.

Why not opt for the GRR-10PL with the wheels, handle, and power supply?
Thought about the similar GR-BASE-10 (no power supply - I have plenty). I have a similar 2U case that would interlock with the one I ordered. The other 2 have smooth tops. I was back and forth for a while, but since I already rebuilt my caster board, I went with the cheaper one. Thomann doesn't have the 10PL.

BTW, as for savings, the GR-10L is $250 at most places here, and $165+ship at the cheapest place I could find. It was $122 here plus the $35 shipping on the total shipment (up to some weight limit I forget).

I remember reading that you rebuilt your caster board, and suspected that was why you opted for the one without the wheels. The GRR-10L is the model with wheels, but no power supply.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the one you ordered... MSRP on the case you bought is $274.99.

The GR-6S is $85 at Thomann .. the $35 shipping still makes it cheap, but it would make sense to order other stuff to spread the charge around.

BTW, it's $118 at NSL + ship

Dang it, wish they had a 6u shallow. How in the world are they building and selling them that cheaply?
It IS just a few pieces of aluminum and three blow-molded pieces of plastic.

I need to get some of those personalized URLs that gets me a kickback when people order stuff ...

Try KPODJ. COM. I have bought many things from them over the years. Sign up to be a VIP member. That will give you a discount off the regular price. I will give you a quick example. I bought the Samson 288 concert dual wireless microphones from them for exactly $250. The store price somewhere else is $329.99 plus tax. So I saved over $80 buying from them. They know me by name. Great guys with great prices on some nice gear.

I bought a pair of Yorkville 801p subs from them for $2,100. Just had to pick them up at their warehouse to get that price. Please don't judge, just check them out.

OK .. update ..

The case arrived today (so 12 calendar days) and the other pieces came 2 days ago. Not too bad from Europe and about the time UPS Ground takes from the west coast. So the 25-35% savings was definitely worth it.

So ... First problem.

I pulled the caster board off the previous case (basically the same Gator case, just 2" shallower and no rear rack rails) and started marking up the new one to mount it. But ... the new case has locking lids and the way they work is the lid starts a 1/4" below the frame and you engage 2 locking lugs with tabs on the lid, lift up and settle it into place. The PROBLEM is the caster board extends farther out than the frame and prevents the lid from being able to drop 1/4" down .. so I can't get the tab/lugs to engage and can't put on the lids.

I'll need to add a maybe 3/8 " riser directly under the case so I get the 1/4" clearance .. or I have to cut back the caster base and remount all the casters .. much harder since I used T-nuts for all the bolts and they are embedded in the board.

So I'll try the riser in the next day or so .. otherwise, I'm going to re-make the caster board.

Hi Steve,

Have you used Thomann again since your initial purchase? If so, do you think they are still a good option? Did you do credit card or bank transfer for you purchase? Thanks

I haven't .. though I would use them again. Only issue is the shipping costs have gone up. It's like $45-$48 (fixed cost for fixed weight), so you need to get a few items to make it reasonable, They've also been restricted on shipping certain manufacturer products to the US .. I assume because their pricing was very low on certain products.

edit: I missed the payment part .. I used PayPal .. I have PP linked to my bank account and a credit card.

I do have a few things I've kept in my shopping cart (mostly stands and bags) that I'll probably order at some point this summer.
