I keep getting suggestions about the gear that should have been used and I keep saying none of those things would be good enough.

In case you are wondering, this is problem #1: Not being able to recognize good advice.

Problem #2: keep making the same mistakes over and over, never learning from them.

MIXY do not fear as soon as the videographer sends me the final cut I will be posting it. Unlike you I DJ at my gigs and not stand around and take pictures and videos.

I am versatile enough to do both sometimes. I just hope thry got a mugshot of you so we know it's you doing the event and not a reasonable facsimile of someone pretending to be you.

Ummm.....so he got arrested at his event? Or, did you get arrested and hope he did also so you can compare mugshots? What did I miss? Was this police involvement in the other thread?

You don't know what you don't know and when you aren't willing to learn you never will. There's nothing wrong with being ignorant on a subject choosing to stay that way is a problem

I got to say this. Some think the gear was overkill for the place that event was in and the type of event it was. It was not. It was tight to the right! The sound was awesome and was just right. None of the DJs who played at the event had a problem with how it sounded. They all agreed it was through the roof. The sound carried very well.

What some suggested in there would have sounded like a cheap Bluetooth speaker that lights up.

Some? How about All - and they were right - you've seen many examples.

Considering the DJ's were the only ones there and it wasn't their equipment, why would they have a problem with it?

What some suggested in there would have sounded like a cheap Bluetooth speaker that lights up.
I don't recall seeing anyone suggest a bluetooth speaker with lights.

Mix, this is a serious question. Why are you so fixated on having a huge system, from the pics posted of this event it’s blatantly obvious that much less would have produced-perhaps a better result with a lot less work involved, it really seems like a huge waste of time and energy

If you need all of those speakers for it to sound good for 40 people then something is definitely wrong.
We were expecting more people. Stop looking at it being me doing it. Every DJ who comes there to play makes sure they have a big system. Nobody would come in there with just 2 12" tops and 2 subs. They all know better. 2 of the DJs who helped out here even have a bigger system they would have used there.

It really does not matter what anyone else says... Mix is gonna do what Mix is gonna do. I get it. I have a similar issue, and it’s become kind of a family joke. When I cook, I ALWAYS cook WAY too much food for the number of people I’m serving... ALWAYS. Even though I know it’s going to be too much food, I do it anyway... every time.[emoji1] I’m SO concerned about not having enough and someone not getting as much as they want, that I make enough food that there’s NO chance that’s ever gonna happen. Been doin’ it for 40 years, and not likely gonna change.[emoji4]

Mix wants to make sure he’s got enough gear that no ears go away unsatisfied.[emoji1]... If it’s too much, you can always turn it down. If you don’t have enough, there’s nothing you can do to make it louder.

Not singling you out, but a better question is why are we so fixated on this 61 year old man and his band of friends from a small neighborhood in NJ? It's blatantly obvious that they have little means to support their ventures and aren't interested in any sort of acclaim or validation beyond the scope of their community. Adrian frequents these forums to satisfy his special interest in the craft and to feel like part of a group. Much like a parking lot security guard trading stories in a cop bar.

If anyone here feeds the machine for entertainment purposes, fine. Just don't fool yourself into thinking that any of our good advice and guidance will be implemented. Also, trying to get him to honestly answer any serious questions regarding his "profession" is the real waste of time and energy. He's been doing this dance for years on many outlets.

I know that nobody asked for my opinion and I should just continue to be a silent spectator, but this forum has pretty much become "The Adventures of DJ Macho Man". Maybe it's time for something else?

Hank,
it’s like a accident on the side of the road you know you shouldn’t slow down to look but you usually do.
Mix,
With all seriousness most likely the best advice would be. if you want to play in front of audience, what you do is to take all the money you’re spending on doing events like this one and pay the organization/group at the other house festivals to give you sometime to play. Sounds crazy but it will work out cheaper and get you in front of people. But Essentially that’s what you’re doing (paying to play) now except no one’s coming, you’re dragging out all the equipment the play to no one. Even if you took pictures or video they would not look good with no people and a setup which looked like someone just grabbed every speaker they had. Location everything and the location you used is the last place any reasonable & money making person would use. If you said you got 40 people throughout the day, thats only 5 people a hr and you had 6 DJs. Like someone pointed out if each DJ brought some people there should have been more people.

Would you prepare way too much food for several hundred of your friends in a park - and then be ok with it if they don't show up? Would you also buy extra equipment for this meal, pay all the permit fee's, etc?
