Whoa. Didn't see this coming. Man, I hope everything doesn't go to streaming (where you have to pay a subscription). Streaming at an event would make me nervous!
Apple Is Killing Off Itunes
Apple Is Killing Off Itunes
I haven't bought music from iTunes in a couple of years, so no biggie if the music acquisition portion goes to a more stream friendly setup. I do hope that the actual application lives on .. it is my music management tool.
That's the iTunes store. The iTunes app is used for a number of things including managing iPhones and iPads. I back them up there, I sync music and such. If they just rename it Apple Music and it has the same offline capability, I'm OK ..I have a feeling they're going to simply go to Apple Music. Think about it, if you haven't bought music from Itunes in a while, they haven't been getting your money. If they force everyone to use Apple Music with a subscription, it's constant cash flow for them.

According to the report, they have 50 million customers - at $9.95 / mo. They already have constant cash flow.I have a feeling they're going to simply go to Apple Music. I have bought music in the past .. and occasionally buy an app (though I normally do that through the app store).I do buy music from them when needed. I've also bought apps.
For Apple, I assume it's a revenue stream issue. Take me .. I gave them on average maybe $20 a year at the peak. If they offered all their music for $20 a month, I might have gone with it and they get far more from me (not sure how they pay out). No need to buy something if you can easily get it again with your subscription. Those that buy a few mp3s just aren't bringing in the $$$.I too, hate the trend to pushing everyone towards streaming-only. I use Amazon, and they keep switching things up and trying to steer people away from buying mp3s. I just don't like streaming at events.

Scott, I take it you have a cellular ipad. Or somehow have your own hotspot?Recently had a groom at an event tell me he forgot to ask me for a special song for his grandparents. Some 50yo obscure song. Downloaded it from Spotify in seconds...good to go.
