I've been having an issue with the myDMX Go app connecting to the box. Sometimes I have to restart everything many times for it to work .. other times it will connect and then lose the connection 15 seconds later. I set up today for a show tomorrow night (we were testing some of my friend's gear) .. and had the same issues.

THEN, I got an inspiration.

I run a DNS app called 1.1.1.1 from Cloudflare, so I tried turning it off .. et voila .. it connected for about 10 seconds. So I dove deeper and in the apps preferences was an option to turn off "Connect on Demand", which reconnected it even after being turned off. Turning THAT OFF seems to have done the trick. I can connect at will and don't lose the connection.

SOOO .. maybe some of you with problems like me have a network security app or firewall or VPN causing problems ....

I didn't find a "Connect on Demand" option in Hardware Manager. Are you connecting to an ethernet? If so, I'd be interested in how you configured the myDMX Go interface to communicate with your router. I figured out how to connect it to my router via wifi, with the myDMX Go box in Dual mode. In that mode you get two separate myDMX Go configurations in Hardware Manager - one for wifi and one for ethernet. The wifi configuration works as before, but the ethernet configuration is disabled. The reason I use Dual mode is because it gives your tablet the option to connect to either your wifi router or directly to the myDMX Go interface.

Sorry .. Connect on Demand is in the 1.1.1.1 VPN app settings. Not trying to connect to the internet. I tried turning Dual mode off in the Hardware Manager, but it keeps coming back on .. not sure why.

I too, had a minor problem with mydmx go tonight. The app connected to the interface box just fine, but the fixtures wouldn't respond. Someone had told me to put a small dmx cable between the interface and the Donner transmitter. I took out that extra cable and everything started working perfectly. Go figure.

I also had another issue using the unit tonight. I let a younger guy run the lighting and he created a bunch of presets. Everything worked fine until he started selecting things rapidly (he was playing it like a keyboard) .. then we lost connection multiple times to the myDMX Go box. Normally a close of the app and restart fixed it .. once had to reset the box.

It "appears" that we were getting a buffer overrun of some sort .. either one that queued the inputs or one on the output. Not sure if that is fixable in the app (either extend the buffer or drop commands or something to keep it from erroring).

One other thing I found .. NO easy way to select UV as a color if I wanted a blacklight effect. It would be nice to either have a button for those devices capable of UV or a special color option somewhere.

I will add I am impressed with what the box does .. if these small issues can be cleaned up, it does amazing things without much work. Next up is testing it with some moving heads.

I have all but given up on using the Sushi and the LightRider app.
(tablet does not recognize the interface)
I am really starting to think it is a problem with the tablet.
So, I was going to wait and buy the MyDMXGo....
but it seems everyone is having issues with it.
Maybe it's better to wait till they fix some bugs and release a new version.

After I got past the connectivity issue (which seems to be MY problem) .. and past the rapid fire use issue (which seems to be out of the norm, but could be a design flaw) .. it worked great.

I doubt there will be a v2 of the hardware, but a firmware update is possible (or hopeful, since it's still under 1.0) and there's certainly a possibility for many UI/app revisions to come.

I am on a MyDMXGo Facebook page,
and you guys are NOT the only ones having issues.

I am on this one

There are SEVERAL groups on Facebook for MyDMXGo...
and most of the posts are about problems very similar.

Just seems like they need to do some tweaking and upgrade it.

i actually tested the rapid fire response issue thoroughly back in the beginning of setting mine up...it never so much as paused... so i am assuming its either an issue with the 2nd batch...or possibly your tablet?

id just spike your light techs drink with ritalin and proceed lol

When I say rapid fire, it was continuous for many minutes ... he was using the blinder button like a quick strobe. Could be the tablet, though it's a new iPad and all apps were cleared prior.

I'm shocked Arnoldo is allowed to discuss LightRider now that ADJ has a product. And I'm not going to join his "GearItFirst' as a prerequisite (the signup said they check it weekly).

Yes, the platform obviously has bugs/issues with it. Even with the personal pain I've had, it's still a good tool that I intend to keep in my toolbox. Personally, I think it was stupid to do wifi-only for the connection. They should've had a hardwire option at the least.

I guess they do, but Apple doesn't (at least not yet). Android will connect via USB (though doesn't retain an ability to be recharged). With touchscreen laptops, I would like that to be an option.

yeah i honestly have zero need for this to be a wireless configuration... id love to just plug and go... but my older samsung tablet can only retain a charge for around 2 hours....so i cant really risk it

I agree .. while I "could" put the unit up with the lights, I ran it about 3 feet away from the tablet (though strayed out to the dance floor beforehand to check the effects). Not sure why there isn't a wired option for Apple, since there is a USB camera dongle which hooks up to other USB items .. maybe it was just a v1 issue.

Do they make a similar dongle for android?

No .. for Android you use an OTG (on the go) cable for connecting to a USB device (like the Sushi) and a standard charging cable to charge the unit. Apparently, there aren't cables that do both. I have a LG tablet and a cable that allows me to connect to a charger or to a Sushi. A switch selects between the 2.
