I had this happen once in a blue moon although I haven’t The issue in a couple years. to be honest all you really need to do is download scratch live in relocate the files through that software.

issue it’s guaranteed to be resolved.
I realize you mean well, but you might want to re-read this thread from the beginning.

Also not sure what you’re talking about with serato creating another folder.

That ia now how it works and never has so not sure what you’re seeing regarding this whole folder thing you speak of.
He's simply been accumulating zipped folders of Serato Install Updates, and wasn't sure if that was causing the "missing file/file relocation" problem.

I did move some music prior to all of this but as you know it shouldn't be an issue in Serato with their Relocate Files feature. I had some djpools downloading music in My Music folder on my computer and others (like BPM Supreme) putting the music in the Downloads folder. Even in my Downloads folder I had too many various music folders. To consolidate, I made one Master Music folder in Downloads and put all music there (easier for backing things up). The weird thing though is that it's not like Serato couldn't seen all the music I moved. It just isn't seeing some of it (about 80 songs).
I have a feeling that those 80 songs were not only moved, but somehow something changed in the file name to make them not findable under the relocate option. Personally for me, since day one I put everything in “my music” folder and create general playlists in iTunes, as well as crates for each specific event (with the formalities). Never had an issue this way.

You may be right and I can see how that process would be cleaner (using crates just for event specific purposes). I may have to do that. I know you use BPM Supreme though, right? It seems BPM naturally dumps the music in your Downloads folder when you download them. Do you just re-route the path to have them download to your My Music?

Also, Itunes has a "Add Folder" option, right? I had never used this before and did a test of just a couple of songs in a folder (calling it Itunes Test) and clicked on Add Folder. I thought Itunes would make a playlist or at least an album called Itunes Test so I could find it and then re-distribute the songs in there to the playlists I wanted. I did this so I could eventually add a folder that contained about 1000 songs. But when I did the test, it just imported the songs in a scatter-gun fashion. I had to know the name of every song to find the individual songs. It didn't add them all under a folder/album name. So that means if I add a folder of a 1000 songs, I'd have to go and find each one separately and put them in playlists. That seems really inconvenient.

Also, don't you find that to do it the way you are (putting it all in Itunes) that you would quickly run out of I-cloud storage space and have to pay monthly for more space. Or do you just not use I-cloud?

I did try Scratch Live (sorry, now I understand you meant Scratch by SL) to relocate the files (at the recommendation of Serato Support). However, Scratch Live said it couldn't find them either (but I can see them plain as day in the folder they are in on my computer...under the exact name that Serato has and says they're missing). So it's weird.

I do use crates for organizing genres of music and then
Well, since you organize Crates by Genre, and you're sure they are actually in your Library, have you tried "Smart Crates" (again, by Genre) to see if they are picked up?

A Program like "Itch Sync" doesn't exist for Mixvibes Cross DJ (the Program I actually DJ with). Fortunately, Cross has really intelligent "Smart Crates" that scan my laptops DJ Music Directory for new music (I also organize by Genre) every time I start Cross DJ.

My downloads go straight to my music folder. But that’s a setting you have to change within google chrome. I actually have it ask me where to save the file before downloading. I store locally so I. D.on.t know anything about cloud issues. Seems we have a different way of saving our files, which may or may not cause the issues you describe

I am more than happy to do a share screen session via Team Viewer. I know serato inside and out.

Something ain’t right.

Also, if you want to very quickly duplicate your computers music directories as Crates in Serato, here's a little ditty on "Itch Sync" -

I may have to consider doing this...In one sense I can see value. All the music would be in Itunes so it could be used as a back-up from Ipad etc if need be if a primary computer took a dump. ...but Apple makes me nervous. They're SO proprietary and do not like to play well with others. Almost seems like my music would be held hostage in Itunes. When you import music to Itunes, do you "copy file to Itunes Media Folder" or do you just have Itunes leave the music you have in the original location/folder you designate on your computer?

Everything stays in its original folder. iTunes and serato seem to go well together and that’s really the only thing I need apple to play wel with lol

... and Traktor, VDJ, PCDJ, and every other main DJ app (except Rick's Rockit Pro) .. ITunes is just a good music manager and makes preparing backups for iPhones and iPads really easy.

Yeah I could see that. I have a lot of music in playlists that are not organized for DJ-ing since I started using Itunes way back when I wasn't DJ-ing. I'd have to do some re-organizing. Would you even mess with exporting all the mp4's from Itunes into a folder on my computer (to consolidate) or just leave it in Itunes and re-organize it according to a more DJ-friendly playlist?

Don't have to actually export .. if you originally had iTunes organize the music, it builds a nice directory structure (wherever you place the library) by artist - album, you can move those files directly from old iTunes libraries if needed.
