A couple interesting set ups...

The sitting I can handle (they seem to be non-performing at the time) ... the rest just plain sucks. Speakers on the floor? PC Tower on the table? The second one seems even worse from a quality of gear standpoint.

First picture. Who's that on the DJ's right side, pink hat, almost covered up by the computer? The Lighting Engineer?

Is this for real??
Groupie ..

Maybe the 2 in the first picture aren't the DJ(s) .. maybe they were just early birds for the buffet line and had to sit a spell ..

The first picture is of Cheap, Old down in the country almost hillbilly type DJs that probably were asked to do the gig at the bar they were at for $100 a night.

The second picture appears to be a young newbie who is interested in the craft of DJ, and purchased all this stuff on his own over time. He is happy to be working a paying gig. He just needs a lot of guidance, and education to build on his passion.

I don't have any hope for the duo in the first picture. With training, and being put into an evironment that champions a proper upbringing for Mobile DJs, the younger DJ in the second pic could do so much better.

Bad as you might think these are, they not that bad. At least they didn’t have the speakersnwith the built-in lights.I have seen unpainted wood Speaker cabinets with no back. And the classic one Was at a busy catering hall someone came in with speaker cabs trailing sawdust into the catering hall. When they put the speakers down in the lobbyit left an outline of speakers in sawdust. The maître d’ flipped out when he saw the mess. And then there’s the one with the fur covered DJ coffin. Well, you usually get what you pay for as I always say. And I’m sure these guys didn’t get paid much.

Did anyone notice what looks like a "home" stereo amplifier being used? I remember using my Kenwood Tuner-Amp with "home" Sansui 3-way and 4-way speakers (pair of each) at my father-in-law's 70th B-Day party. But I also had Pioneer and Teac cassette decks, belt-driven Dual turntable and played 45's I didn't have on cassette. Essentially, it was at this party when people came up to me and asked "How come you aren't doing this for money?" It was shortly thereafter that I started my DJ experience...working for a multi-op. The rest is history.

Same here....started with a big Sharp amp/receiver and an Onkyo....i would hook a turntable into each and mix them together... until i could afford a realistik mixer...then finally got an actual peavy dj mixer
