BT is fine as a replacement for IR (Infra Red control) ... simple color change or switch from static to auto or sound active. Someday it might be a WiFi replacement.

I wouldn't trust Chauvet on another wireless device. I invested in the D-Fi units and they weren't even compatible from one version to the next. Besides the fact of Bluetooth having a much more limited range.

BT should be fine from your console to your lights...on a truss over you or next to your speakers. I can get a good 20 feet on my BT speaker at home, farther on my phone/car connection- 40 feet thru a wall (which sucks BTW, to be on the phone in the house and someone starts the car or comes home and your call goes to the car...)

It won't work on uplights across the room, but if you set them and can forget them...might be easier to set them up than manually choosing a color - and it's cheap.

BTW - my dmx go device is due here TODAY (tuesday) now...and amazon has had 3 days and some and still shipped nothing.

After having used wireless DMX (Donner) uplights I can tell you that I would NEVER consider going back to static lighting. It's a drastic difference in presentation.

Problem is most non-pro BT isn't fast enough for the things that the myDMX Go is doing. Again .. fine for simple, occasional changes, but not for a coordinated light show .. at least not yet.

ADJ Support just now responded that there is a problem with the App and it should be resolved shortly. The request for assistance went in Saturday. 3 days for initial response. 2 if you don't count Sunday.

Is there even such a thing as "pro Bluetooth"? Everything I've read on it focused on casual consumer use.

What ADJ needs to do is put an ethernet interface on their MyDMX GO interface, so we can network it with a high-power wifi router that can provide internet access. It's myopic how they've built it as a isolated little island.

You might be able to connect to an existing network (through wifi) - the options are there through the hardware manager. I did not try it, but I did see it.

Maybe, if ADJ sees fit to provide user documention for their Hardware Manager. From what I can see, you'd need to connect the MyDMX GO interface to a USB port on a Windows or Mac computer, and use Hardware Manager to route it to another network or wifi router. But that would require a computer, rather than directly connecting the MyDMX GO interface to a wifi router via ethernet ports.

The specs are there .. not sure if anyone has produced product to those yet.

Agreed - but this is not really that different than connecting any other wireless device to a wireless network (printer, repeater, etc).

I agree with you completely about the lack of documentation! I also agree that an RJ45 would make life a little easier for some.

My heartburn with their Hardware Manager is the security issues.

If you use the hardware manager, there are settings available that don't appear implemented (like actual WiFi router capability).

I am concerned that the firmware is at 0.6 and not at least 1.0.

be sure and back up your presets by creating a new project and saving all fixtures and settings in it.... i heard a guy on lightrider saying...rarely...but sometimes after an update you lose the project you were in at the time...so might as well have a duplicate
