DMX Sushi DMX - Light rider

Mine arrived today - and I think it's sick (or a portion of it anyways). I am able to connect to the WiFi portion of it using an iPad Pro. The dongle never shows up as active in MyDmxGo software though - instead, I have an alert that says:

Waiting for device
Waiting for device to become available

I can dismiss this alert. Clicking Refresh brings it right back.

As luck would have it, ADJ support is closed until Monday.

This one stumps me... its one of those helpless things that...unless it happened to me in my experience...i have no idea how to troubleshoot it... hope its not a dud unit

I tried firing up the ol' iPad 2 - but mydmx won't work on it.

Edit - consolidated posts

---

Also attempted on an Amazon Fire - software loads, device connects to the DMX WiFi and also sees but does not find and active dongle as well. This leads me to believe it is either a MyDmx Go device issue - or some kind of activation has not taken place.

---

Be aware, there are others experiencing this same exact issue (iPad's and Amazon tablet's connecting to the WiFi but not the dongle) - and ADJ has not responded with a fix yet.

Let's not even talk about the hardware manager - ugh! They've obviously invested no time in programming.

The 'password' is the WiFi connection password and I am connecting to the WiFi portion. Internal addressing is 192.168.4.1 and machines connecting pickup 4.2, 4.3, etc - so that is working and i've verified that this portion is working. 'Seeing' the active dongle is not working.

As for the hardware manager itself, the PC version wants to extract its files to Windows/System32, looking for Admin level privileges - this in itself is an alarm. I extracted to C:\adj - this extracts a file called 'HardwareManager.exe' (and a bunch of other files) and if you run it, it never finds the usb device. Some explanation of what it's doing (or trying to do) might calm the security side of me (and others).

On a Mac, with security enabled (which is default), the program is restricted from running because it is not signed, and is also looking for Admin level privileges. I did allow it to run on the Mac (it's a virtual disk that doesn't install anything), it did connect and I didn't see anything odd. They have a section in there for manually connecting to an existing network - but there's nothing manual about it - it shows networks that are broadcasting and you click 'connect' to connect to one (if you desire to) - and it also shows the wifi settings for this device, of which some you can change, like the WiFi channel.

I've also tried factory resets (uses the flash files downloaded with the hardware manager) - but no changes in results.

If you guys think it's beneficial to you, I can show you what the Hardware Manager looks like.

Crossing my fingers for ya.

Steps (for clarification)
1: On your home wifi, open MyDmx, click Fixtures and download the fixtures you have.
2: After downloading the fixtures, connect to the MyDmx WiFi
3: Go to MyDmx app and click Refresh
4: The MyDmxGo should highlight white (this is a successful connection to the 'dongle')
5: You should now be able to add and control the device

Switching WiFi's for those technologically challenged:

iPad:
Settings
Wi-Fi
select WiFi network to connect to (it will be called Smart Dmx Interface ######)
Enter password
iPad should put a checkmark next to Smart DMX Interface (######)
Press Home button
Open MyDmx Go
Click Refresh
myDMX GO should highlight white
Select myDMX GO

Fire:
From the Home screen, drag the screen down
Select Wireless
select WiFi network to connect to (it will be called Smart Dmx Interface ######)
Click 'Connect'
Enter password
Fire should say 'Connected' under the network name Smart Dmx Interface (######)
Go back to Home screen
Open MyDmx Go
Select Refresh from the left menu
myDMX GO should highlight white
Select myDMX GO

Have you tried support on their Facebook page? Log into Facebook | Facebook - (https://www.facebook.com/groups/mydmxGOofficial/)

Emailed them direct. Let's be real, if you spend more time on FB then answering your emails, then you have other issues.

The FB page has more user input .. maybe someone found a fix/work around that won't make it to ADJ's support for a bit.

Did you get into the group?

There is a post from Friday ...

Yep, James (and others on there) is talking about the same issues as I am - and there are others on there and from other forums, like ADJ's forum. Notice no resolution. I will send him a note - as he appears to be working for them (no response to the messages I sent on email though, not even an auto reply saying we got it - and we'll get right back to you).

1 day ago:
Ugh.... ok so there is an issue with the firmware inside the WiFi chip we use. We are trying to resolve it.

Hey guys the one i linked above the "wifi Fix" was supposed to be able to solve this issue, i guess its not, like i said it is something with a firmware inside the Wifi chip we use, so it's the weekend and i will try to have another round of answers monday, so we'll see. totally up to you if you wanna wait and hold onto it for a week or so to give us time to fix it, or if you just return it now and buy it later.... or not at all, your choice.
We obviously will fix this, i just do not have a exact date, but rest assured it will be ASAP.

One of my guesses was - device issue. I am running the latest flash version, so .. I guess I'm at a stand still until they release another one. :(

James (ADJ) said they confirmed today that these issues are with the App and they will be rolling an update out this week (within the next 48 hours).

Chris, what tablet are you using? Considering you're working, I'm wondering what impact the update will have on you (if any).

The future just called : "We're sorry to inform you, but the latest update to your self driving car will cause it to crash repeatedly if you exceed 12mph. There will be another update in about 10-14 days. Sorry for any inconvenience."
