This is just a quick video, showing my first gig using myDMX Go. To say that I'm pleased with the product is an understatement, I'm THRILLED with it. I have 2 crank stands with mini-T-bars on them. Each stand has a Chauvet mini-colorstrip and 2 Chauvet Intimiator 255 moving heads. I have the heads mapped to only 2 DMX addresses, but will probably break them out to 4 at the next gig. I'm using Donner dongles to do wireless. The tablet is a Kindle Fire HD8, which set me back all of $80. It connects, wirelessly to the myDMX Go receiver (it's the wifi server), which is inside my mixer case, right under the tablet. With this rig, you can grab the tablet and go anywhere around the building (within range, not sure what that is). Sorry that I didn't go thru all the features of the product and more thoroughly demo it but the gig was just starting up. What I found was, rather than programming the presets, it's easier to just use a few general presets then, tweak/change colors/gobos/movement/strobe on the fly. Didn't have any glitches last night, at all. It just worked, and that's something I dearly treasure. Feel free to ask any questions, although I won't claim to know all the answers (I'll try).

Yeah. Definitely need to save my money and buy one.
I just wish the original LightRider app came with a lifetime license.
Pay it once, then forget about it.

Great to hear it worked well for ya Rick! Great footage!!

Out of curiosity...what had u been using before this?

I used to us myDMX 2.0. This was before buying my movers. Started using Freestyler for controlling uplights but could never make it work right with the movers. I then bought myDMX 3.0, but stalled on getting programming done. About that time, you told us about myDMX Go and I bought it. While I wouldn't want it for production work, where you need a lot of detailed controls, it's perfect for mobile DJ stuff. I especially love how you can just tweak gobos, colors, etc. on the fly. I really love how you can reset the center point on the fly. Sure keeps those movers off the wall behind my stands and onto the dance floor or back wall. Thanks again for the recommendation.

So happy to hear!

You can also pre grid your mover boundaries in the fixtures section ...its a tab at the top...cool option

I was just moving the center point (the little radar looking icon). Just shift the center point and it seems the heads stay in the general area you want. Easy, peasy.

Thank you, I hadn't seen it.

if u notice in that grid .... u can select one fixture at a time ....so lets say you had a mirror ...or a column... or maybe even one light was hitting a particular table and annoying them...u could limit one or more lights from that section...really cool option

so...if I"m getting this right...

$250 from BHphoto or sweetwater gets you the harware interface and the app is free.

So the interface would 'hang' with the lights, plugged in, and it makes it's own wifi server for my 'simple' ipad to connect to?
And the dmx XLR pluts into the interface.

Similarly, the interface could sit at my console and connect to the lights via the donner wireless.

Interesting that the software app is by the same folks that do the one for the sushi ds. Lumidesk USB DMX512 Lighting Software - (https://www.lumidesk.com/)

Actually, DMXSoft (SUshi) and Lumidesk are both brands of Nicolaudie (and a few other lighting related companies as well). Lightrider, who wrote the control code is one of them. The ADJ box was a joint project with Nicolaudie and they sell a similar one .. (same pins, different box) ... Webstore | LightRider - (https://store.lightriderapp.com/en/product/525-LR512)

I saw something abotu the lightrider box. more money, but 512 expandable to 1024 so worth it if you need all that.

Like many things..the more you get into it the more you spend on it...maybe I can sell my sushi on ebay..keep it as backup...I have too much 'backup' stuff as it it. LOL

That is correct, all of it. I thought about hanging the myDMX Go onto one of the t-bars, but that meant I could ding it up. I'd also have to put transmitter at the end of that t-bar chain. Instead, I plugged a single Donner transmitter into the myDMX Go, then put Donner receivers at the head of each t-bar chain. I hid the transmitter and myDMX Go unit inside my mixer case. The unit does act as a web server (of sorts) and your tablet connects to it via wi-fi. It is important to turn off sleep mode on your tablet. Seems to just work better. I think I also have had one time where the server flaked out, for whatever reason. To fix it, I simply pulled the power plug and put it back in (reboot) and it was good to go in seconds. The interface unit is cool, all by itself but the real magic is in the little app. I'd strongly recommend you download the app, even without the dongle, and take a look. The UI is superb.

wi fi server of sorts...

VDJ is what I use and i have the remote app - on my tablet. It needs a wifi network to connect to the laptop..then you cna walk around and mix songs, adjust volume, etc .

think the 'server of sorts' will do that?

Hmm...teh app won't run on my galaxy 9 phone...nor on my ipad mini..1st gen apparently.

SO..off to buy an HD8..need a tablet at times, maybe this will make me use it more? I mean, having to pay for it.

bestbuy via my phone is offering it for 79.99 less 20% and free shipping...about to give up satellite and get amazon prime...so I guess I get my use out of it.
