I think you've convinced me. Did I understand it correctly that you connect to the DMX box wirelessly? The box is the host? I'm right on the edge of buying one myself. It sure sounds easy.

Yeah... little black box with 2 dmx outs....ur tablet sees it as a wifi network... u connect... open ur app and connect and boom!

i would like to add one small caveat

this thing seems customized for moving heads/scanners and wash lights.... as far as effects like derbies....stingers...etc....im not exactly sure how it works with them.... i own a stinger... and i patched it in.... and it didnt immediately work... i could have messed up the settings on the light itself (put the wrong channel mode maybe) but the minute it didnt work i just unplugged it because i really had no plans of using it anyway....

So that being said... if u are wanting to run light fixtures like those.... buy with caution...and again... i didnt try very hard to rememdy the issue...i just gave up lol

What about multiple movers? I have 4. Can you put the fixtures on difference DMX channels? If so, do you have to program each light separately (4 passes)?

Rick....there is where this thing really shines... the more movers the better... it programs them itself simulaneously....u can have them all going in unison...or click the shift button and change the setting in degrees 1 to 100 percent to kick them out of sync with each other... there are multiple movement options that will do all kinds of interesting patterns.... just play with it for an hour or two...and u will be amazed....

ps- dont think of it in terms of dmx programming... it just does it... itself... u never need to look at the dmx settings unless u really want to.... this thing just makes it all happen ....

then....once u like what its doing...go down and hold down a preset button ... name it...and u forever have a preset of that scene... 50 presets for each project you create...

oh thats another thing...u can create projects....like lets say u want a specific light show for a specific venue... open a new project....name it that venue... then patch in the lights u would want to use there... and make presets especially for that venue

this will come in handy for say ...a glow party...where u would use different fixtures than normal...or use only special colors for your shows

So this isn't proprietary? Am I understanding you correctly that, just because it's ADJ based you could still control Chauvet lights etc? I have the FlareconAir too and it's limited. I have Chauvet pars so that's why I originally went that route but this sounds great. A couple of questions:
1. Is the antenna on this thing so that your ipad can speak to the MyDmxGo?
2. And am I correct in thinking that you just plug in a dongle transmitter to the unit and insert a dongle receiver into each receiving fixture to control wirelessly?
3. Does using the Donner dongles control any kind of light fixture wirelessly? I know Chauvet makes a big deal about D-fi usb receivers and imply that their lights need this usb receiver. Can you just bypass the usb and use dongle receivers on Chauvet products to still get the same wireless control result?

The unit is "semi-proprietary" in that it is made by Nicolaudie (their LightRider brand) .. both the hardware and software .. but it will work with ANY dmx products either via the 3-pin DMX connector or via the wireless of your choice plugged into that connector (including Chauvet D-Fi). The antenna IS for connection to the tablet, not for wireless DMX. ADJ has another product (Airstream Bridge) that does both WiFi connection AND wireless DMX connection.

haha hey tom! i think steve answered the lions share of your questions..

i will say this thing has the most comprehensive library of fixtures built into it that ive ever seen... i had a pair of cheap scanners from a pretty no name company and it actually had them in its fixture list.... chauvet is fully represented! They also make a dmx profile builder app thats supposed to be fairly easy if u absolutely have to make a new profile for a weird light

The donner master dongle will go right into the mydmxgo receiver box and BOOM... you are wireless....as steve said... these work with any 3 prong fixtures... and definitely bypass the d fi..

The donner dongles simply replace dmx cable where ever you place them...i normally dongle one fixture per truss totem or tripod... and then daisy chain with dmx cable to any other fixtures on it...

I'm curious to see any presets you have made for uplighting effects such as fades, chases, etc. Currently, I use myDMX for just uplighting scenes, as I don't have any moving heads. This would prevent me from lugging around another laptop.
