Speaking of Forums -

I normally don't get involved in crap like this, but I've been on KaraokeScene recently, looking for tips for this weekends Karaoke house party I'm helping with. I think it is the last truly active Karaoke Forum out there.

There is a truly epic melt-down occurring there in the "A Warning To Karaosoft Users" thread. I don't know if their Forum is not moderated, or if they even have mods.
If they do, IMHO they're asleep at the wheel.

Karaoke forums are like that for some reason even when moderated. We had OKJT for a while it was a constant s**t show

I figured they'd be more pissed at the streamers (Karafun, etc.) since many in karaoke hype their CD library (or the ripped version) and many extol the fact their libraries were Chartbuster certified (or whatever the legal company was that was trying to pull that off).

I don't use TT either.

If you don’t participate in a number of forums like ODJT, TapaTalk might not be very useful. If you belong to several forums, having them all accessible in one app is pretty nice. I get notifications continuously throughout the day when there’s new posts to threads or members I follow. I can respond back right away if I choose. The down side is, they update the app too often, and pretty much screw something up every time, or they take a feature I like away, or they make bad changes to the interface.

None. I don't use Tapatalk any more. I had a breif time of using it for a few months like 3 years ago.

I have it only because I'm a mod and more often than not I can see when things are going sideways and fix them hopefully. You guys are right though it gets worse with every incarnation

I have it on my phone but pretty much ignore it until @DJ Bobcat tells me I might have broken something. :embarrassed:

The push notifications are marginally useful. Push notifications unless it's something important generally annoy me. I have most of FB's turned off on my phone/tablet. The next version of XenForo, which just went to release candidate, is going to have native push notifications I'll probably enable them until they start annoying me too. :)

I just discovered another (TapaTalk) thing that’s not working. When I do a search on a topic and click the result, it takes me to some random unrelated thread. Pretty much makes SEARCH a pretty useless feature. It used to work, but musta got screwed up in the latest update.

Tapatalk screwed up another update. With this recent update you can’t click on a picture to view it, zoom in, or save it. What a PITA!!!... Every time they release a new version, they screw something up.[emoji1] They usually fix it in a subsequent release, but then they screw up something else. Job security I guess.

WEIRD... I got another update of TapaTalk last night and both of these issues are FIXED!!!... WOW!!![emoji1] Funny, because I just recently went to the App Store and posted a review, and mentioned those two issues. I wonder if that had anything to do with these fixes??? I guess I should have mentioned that the stupid app drains my (brand new) iPhone battery incredibly quickly... -20% in 15 minutes. If I’m not running TapaTalk, it would take all day to drop 20%. No big deal at home ‘cause I can plug in. Kind of a bummer if I’m trying to keep up with the forum when I’m sitting in a restaurant.[emoji4]

Glad they fixed it. I love it when a problem fixes itself before I look into it.

Speaking of iPhone battery drain, Yesterday my dumb desktop decides not to recognize my camera which has my only mic (I need a backup mic apparently) I was scheduled for a Skype conference. It's not a good look when your geek on call cannot get something as simple as their webcam working. :sqerr:

Anyhow I have my iPhone X sitting on my desk. I used that for the video conference. In just shy of three hours it burned through 85% of battery! Luckily I have a stand wireless charger and it was on charge the whole time but damn that's an awful lot of battery. I realize the WiFi radio is constantly active as is the screen two of the most battery intensive components but still.

I’ve been having TapaTalk performance issues again for the past few days. So I check the updates, and sure enough, there was another update a few days ago...

... Says “Performance improvements” and “Bug fixes”... RIGHT!!!... This new version drains my battery WAY too quickly, and it’s SLOWER than creeping Moses.[emoji1] “Performance improvements” my a$$.[emoji1]

Don't you just love change logs that say "bug fixes"? Well what the heck did you fix? Most of the times it's more like what did you break in the process. It's a pet peeve of mine. I do realize that most users aren't all that technically inclined. To me a "bug fixes" change log just reads like the developer who submitted the app was to lazy to type out a few lines.
