Serato 50% Off Sale

Sucks that it isn't 50% off everything individually .. I might pick up Serato Video if it were $50.

If you have a Mac, most Serato Heads's will freely admit that this is much better (but it's $199 - ouch!) -

NO .. I'm a Windows guy. It looks like if I want to consolidate my player apps into one, it's going to be PCDJ Dex. Traktor (I own) has no video or karaoke, Serato (I also own) can do video for a price, but not (or limited) karaoke, VDJ would cost me $250 more than what it will cost me to upgrade from PCDJ Dex RE to Dex (which can do all of it).

This is one of the few DJ software's I know absolutely nothing about, and I also don't know anyone (besides you) that actually uses it!

Will discuss when I return from Western Caribbean Cruise (12 days) that leaves this afternoon. Tough life, but someone has to do it!

I've had it longer than all the others (other than an early VDJ branch called Numark Cue).

Not Serato, but check out this killer "happy" deal on this speaker at IDJNow. I have no words. Would anyone on these boards consider buying something like this? Ok, maybe one of us, but not me for sure. Don't show those ... Ricky might buy them ...

I'm offloading all my stuff and buying a trailer full of those. I mean with nothing but happy speakers, who would be sad? ;) Loving the 'mini me' stands too. Also comes with a wireless remote and a mic.

Well, you know they're good because they have "Pro" right in their name.

And I know they've been engineered properly because they have 'Technical' in their name too. ;)

Rated at 3000 watts too. JBL, EV, QSC, EAW and all of them should start taking notes - overpriced sons of b!@#$es. :p

Yep .. Can't get much better than professional, well-engineered gear ..

I think they put the word “technical” in there to warn the technologically challenged (like myself) that they’re too complicated for us.[emoji1]
But the smiley-face says "come hug me" .. it's hypocritical in my mind.

I got to say, I no longer find discounts on DJ software any kind of incentive. I have all the capability I want in free applications. 80% of my job now is interpersonal - it's public relations. The other 20% doesn't require spending a lot of money on software or over-sized integrated controllers. While $350 is relatively cheap in the grand scheme of things - even at 50% off I'm still not getting a lot for my money that doesn't already exist in open source platforms.

I'm sure there are a lot of young people who want to be the next rave DJ or just look the part - but, most of the DJ crap that gets sold today is completely unnecessary to getting the job done well. I no more want to be constrained by the Serato series of products and controllers than I do Apple and the iWay of living. Cross platform compatibility and universal connectivity means a whole lot more to me.

What you're looking for doesn't exist. As you specified you don't want to be constrained by Apple, then this means your choice is Microsoft's way of life - which is also not cross platform compatible. There are always items that are not cross platform - but to answer your statement, Serato is cross platform - as is their controllers.

As for product options and use, watch out for Rule #1 - You Get What You Pay For.

I'm an advocate of not paying more than you have to .. I'm also an advocate of paying as much as you need to.

A bargain isn't a bargain if it doesn't do what YOU need it to do, just as much as a high end unit isn't a good value if it does things you don't have a need for.

Buy right.
