One of my very close DJ friends has all together 4 JBL PRX15 speakers he's selling. I'm buying 2 of them. He called me today to check and see how I'm doing and tell me about the speakers he's selling.

Those are some great speakers and I know they are in great condition since he puts all his speakers in bags. He's letting me get away with a steal of a deal. He's selling me 2 speakers with the bags for get this $600! His original price with the bags are $400 each. He's doing this as a favor to me because we're such great friends. Can't beat that no kind of way. He's selling them because he's upgrading to the next model up. Still those speakers are awesome! I can't pass this deal up.

I believe PRX 615. I hear you Taso but why go through getting those speakers fixed spending $300 not $150 that you came up with. Besides I would need to buy bags for them anyway. I'd rather buy those speakers instead of going through the issue of getting the other ones fixed up. Give me a suggestion where I can get a site made up for $300. Then there's no telling how good those speakers would turn out trying to fix them up to look better.

You can get a site made for free if you really want... just look online at places like wix or godaddy... just gotta pay for hosting... which is less than $300... actually it doesn't really cost you anything up front, as you can pay monthly (wix is $11/month). Not only that, you have no upcoming gigs... so why not invest in something that gets you gigs, as opposed to something that doesn't provide a return on investment (no one will book you bc you bought speakers, and you can't charge more because you got them). Your decisions are never the best business wise... you just like getting new toys. You still haven't shown why you're worth even $300... so till you fix that, lay off the toys lol.

I believe PRX 615...

OK... PRX 615’s are OK, but they’re not as good as your 12 inch DSR’s. Not as powerful, and they’re 15 inches. My experience is 15” speakers sound a little muddy... high frequencies just don’t come out clearly. 12 inch speakers sound better IMO. They’re gonna sound like cr@p when you use them with subs.

So if I were you, spend a few hours and with less than $100, you can fix those speakers up to look as good as new. Even if your DIY skills are not very good and they don’t come out looking new, pretty much anything you do to them is gonna make them look better. Then buy a couple of speaker bags. Tell ya what... You fix up those Yamaha speakers and I’ll GIVE you some speaker bags for FREE. I’ll even pay the shipping.[emoji1]

you made a mistake. They are DSR 115's and not 12's. Personally I like 15's better. IMO those speakers sound great! It's a personal choice for DJs. My friend is not a fan of Yamaha speakers. His choice is JBL. When I get them I plan on posting pictures of them on here.

Wouldn’t be the FIRST mistake I ever made.[emoji1]... Maybe my second???[emoji1]... The first was my first wife![emoji1]

But regardless of size... JBL’s - 1000 Watts; Yamaha’s - 1300 Watts. Those Yamaha’s sell for twice what the JBL’s sell for... Gotta be a reason for that. At the very least, you could fix them up and sell the for enough to pay for the JBL’s.[emoji1] I’m not sure if you’re lazy or what???[emoji1]

@MIXMASTERMACHOM did you see the offer Bob made?

Guy you are not seeing the genius in his plan. He will buy these speakers and then he can add two more speakers to his setup for the talk gigs he gets and the 20 people there will be so impressed they will book him for $150 a party because he has to give them discounts. I mean it is just business 101 buy as much stuff as you can and then book nothing to pay for them. Great tax write off.

The PRX 600 series are fine, but getting on in age (I have a pair of the 12") .. they sound good, but aren't the best for recorded music .. better for live sound. A twice used pair sold in NY for $720 with a set of stands, so $600 is an OK deal.

I'm not sure you have the right ones. The JBL's sell for $750 and the Yamaha's sell now for 1k.

Where do you get these ideas!? How many people attending an event and those who stay for the dancing part have nothing to do with it. I wish more people would stay for the dance but I don't have control over that. All I have control over is what I'm getting paid.

Haven't you had an event where there were less than 50 people at an event that was supposed to have well over 100 people. Did that change the job you were to do? Like I said before the speaker portion to me is too long. So once the dance is to begin a lot of people have been there long enough and ready to go. Again that's out of my control. That usually means I get to start packing up before the time for the dance is to end. I still get paid what is due to me.

No I have never ever had that.
Good for you. I don't know why I'm even talking to you about this but here it goes. I'm going to not be able to do things for a while because I'm working on getting hip replacement surgery. When I did these events I was there from beginning to end. My main thing was to be there to hear the speakers and stay clean. I started out doing the event for this one particular activities committee for $150 because I wanted to get my foot in the door.

As time has gone on that price has gone up a bit. Now of course you wouldn't do it for the amount they are paying me. I do it for that price because I'm very passionate about the 12 step program I'm a member of. I know it will be next year sometime before I will be back to work.

Again no matter how many people are expected to attend an event I still have a job to do. The thing I consider when asking how many people are expected to attend the event is to gage what gear that needs to be used to get the job done right. Sometimes I get lucky and know the venue the event is to place in.

Offer still stands too. I also have a pair of 15” bags I’ll never use.[emoji4] When I sold my speakers back to GC, they didn’t want the bags, even though they looked like brand new. Go figure???

@MIXMASTERMACHOM are you at least going to thank him for the offer?

Nope... Got the right ones. Guitar Center has the used JBL PRX 615 for $399...

No used Yamaha DSR115’s on GC, but the cheapest one’s on eBay are $799

... So that looks like the Yammy’s are about twice the price to me.[emoji1]
