Here is the video from Sweet Water on the new CP series. Compact speakers from QSC!

I am surprised QSC is coming out with another lower priced series when the K.2 series has only been out 1 year or so.. I am going to assume that the new K.2 series is not selling as well as they thought they would. Or, QSC just wants to compete on the lower end of the price scale as well. ...Either way, I want to listen to them! I hope my local Guitar Center has them in soon.

Pro Audio Star has the CP12 on sale with a Tote Bag for $499.99 ...Basically, the bag is free right now.

QSC CP12 + CP12 Tote - (http://www.proaudiostar.com/qsc-cp12-cp12-tote.html)

After a very quick look, it looks like the CP8/12 might be the original K8/12 slightly modified and rebranded. They have similar specs.

I withdraw my previous statement. ;)

In reference to the K2. series - I don't think they're having any problems selling them. I think they wanted to get into the lower end of the market too - means more money for them. The K2. series is priced exactly where the original K series was.

126db max? its clearly a value priced speaker. SOme similar components, but seems like there are a bunch of cheaper components as well.

The original K8 had a Max SPL of 127 db. ....I mean, I don't think anybody would notice that 1 db difference, especially since it's on Paper anyway. Realistically, nobody is going to record spl readings in real time scenarios above 120 DB any way out of a single loud speaker.

I think the 8” was 124db I may have heard wrong.

They are lighter weight than the original K series. Perhaps different material used for the boxes. ...Could be the same woofer. The tweeters are 1.4 inch exits where the original K series had a 1.75 inch exit. They said they revamped these with lighter weight amps which also decreased weight. The mixer section has less features than the original K series had. ...So certainly different speakers, but very similar look.

Personally, I just recently saw a DJ using K8s WITHOUT A SUB at a gig where 100 people were present. It was a corporate picnic with karaoke involved, but he played mostly dance music anyway...They had almost no bass to them, and while they had a clear sound to them, they certainly started sounding harsh when he pushed them, and they were not that loud. ...I thought my BOSE S1 Pro put out as much or more bass than the K8s were pumping out.

I wouldn't be interested in these new CP8s, but the CP12 intrigues me. It's 30 lbs, and smaller than a K12 or K2.12 ...I'd like to hear them. Would be cool to sound test one against a K2.12 to hear the differences.

I suspect companies like Alto are eating their lunch on the lower-priced spectrum. I have to admit, if I were only using my ears and not worried whether they'd hold up, I would have gone for Altos. My opinion, they sound fantastic.

This would be true - as it's very hard to get any bass out of an 8" driver. If you're going to step up to them, you should spend the little extra and go to the K2.12 You'll thank yourself later.

I suspect if most people based things on their ears and not long term function, practicality and use, they too would have gone for cheap stuff.

I love my Alto TS215 speakers 33.6 lbs each, and I rocked another wedding with them on Saturday at a farm venue where I knew I would be walking a lot. NO Subs used. 175 guests. Sound was great. ...I would have used my Alto TS312 speakers that are new, but it was an outside gig, and want to keep the new ones looking new as long as possible. ...Plus since I wasn't using a Sub I figured the 15s would have slightly more bass.

My Alto TS110 Speakers are still sounding great after 5 years. Keeping them around because they have fans on the back...Good for outdoor gigs in the summer where as the new TS3 series run real hot in the heat with those more powerful amps.

I'm sure they will... this is the kind of crap that GC LOVES to stock. They don't seem to carry anything high end in their stores anymore.

GC (like anyone else) knows people love to pay less for things when they 'think' they're getting something equivalent to a much more expensive product.

I'm sure the CP will be ok for what it is (in competition with the lower end of the market) - but for the little price difference, you'd do yourself alot better to step up to the K2. series.

Bump - has anyone tried the CP12's? I have the original K12's. I'm interested in the ~10lb weight savings... at least for certain gigs.

Wondering how the low end response compares. I frequently use my K12's without a sub.
