Got a request for "Campfire Song" by Sponge Bob Square Pants. Asked the bride about this during the phone consult. She didn't realize it was on there and told me, "That was the kids." Asked her she wanted me to "not have a copy" but she told me, "No, it's okay. Go ahead." This appears to be a very chill couple today. They're probably 40-ish. Still, I just don't see stuff like this very often.

I ended up playing several SpongeBob songs last night. This was a 2nd marriage and they had young kids. The B&G really couldn't care less about the entertainment so it was apparent that I was hired to play music for the kids.

I love it LOL

I was playing Christmas songs at a family function in April this year because the 5 year old liked them LOL. I did have advance notice that this might happen and it would be OK to do it. The kids were gone early and we got down to some serious partying after that

Sometimes, making the kids happy is what makes the client happy...
even if it means that THEY don't get to hear the adult songs they like.
I had one bride who told me her daughter thinks she is a princess.
So I played a flamboyant fanfare and had the entire audience give a "princess wave" to her...
just before I played her request. That little girl's face lit up like a Christmas tree!
The bride was delighted, and actually mentioned it in a "thank you" card she sent after the wedding.
I could have sucked every moment for the rest of night, and still walked away with a great review.

Suck up.

(Nice job, by the way)
