i think this sells photography and videography well....but the dj and lighting aspect is completely missing... the one shot that includes your set up makes it look rinky dink and an afterthought..... but id definitely hire your to take photos...

Keep in mind guys, this type of video he is creating is NOT meant to sell anything specific, but rather excite the client and energize them to want to know more as they are about to enter the website. No ones actually gonna watch more than a few seconds, however because first impressions are everything, every small detail of your site counts... especially the initial one.

Look at my site djtaso.com the video on the home screen is a bunch of shots that last .5-2 seconds long... it has no audio, not meant to sell... but rather WOW... by the time they get to the pricing it all makes sense why I charge what I charge (well makes sense to some at least).

I agree, Taso. The video landing page seems to be THE next big thing in websites and yes, if done correctly, it sells energy. In the scope of things, I struggle to present image. I'm a 54 year old programmer, who happens to DJ and his wife takes pictures on the weekends. This branding and image thing is quite foreign to me, but I believe you've shown me the way and I'm giving it my best effort. I'm interested to see the results over the next few weeks/months.

I get that you disagree with me. That's not a problem. I'm looking at it from a customer's point of view. One minute you have a price of $1150. You raised your starting price by $300 and now considering going back to $850. What are clients getting that's worth spending $300? So if you go down on your price will they get the same thing or less? I said how I felt. Why are you running on panic mode? Why don't you give the new pricing time to see if it will work? If you were just running a special promotion during a certain time. Then fine. Just curious. What does a client get for $1,150 besides you the DJ?

What do you use to build your site again?

What does a client get with me for $2000 for JUST the dj... as opposed to you at $300 for just the dj.

You charge what you charge because the market allows it. Some of us have tested the market and know we’re in good standing with them and the price we’ve chosen, others are too afraid to raise it, and others have raised it yet the market doesn’t accept it. Finding out why they didn’t is important so you know what needs to be improved.

More tweaking today. I ditched the cover page idea (where you have to click "Enter Website" or "Blog"). It supposedly will harm SEO. I edited the video down a few more seconds and re-buned it at 1280X720 and installed it on the home page (with the navigation menu). It seems to load faster and looks a bit sharper. I still have to tweak the embed code to make the video dynamically re-size for phones. Man, I hope these changes help our search engine placement instead of hurt it.

Don"t take this as me attacking you sir. I"m proud you raised your starting price by $300. That took a lot of courage to do that. Now the 2 big things I see is to be patient and wait to see if your new pricing will catch on. I don't see people right away looking to spend that much for your services . That"s not a put down. I say it that way because some people will remember you at your old price and say to themselves who does he think he is. Your job like all of us is to look at how to convince the people that contact you about working for them that you"re worth the price you give. If they don"t think you"re worth it they won"t speed their money with you. Didn't you say people were telling you that your price was too low? Let me finish this one off by saying this. When your starting price was $850 I bet you had some that would"t pay that much for a DJ no matter how good your presentation was.

Thanks Taso for giving him suggestions on things to improve his website. That"s his first line of defense to get people to want to contact him. Honestly the 2 sites I had up and running at one time never got anybody to contact me because they just plain sucked!

Did you make a decision on how you are going to proceed in the future? Aren't you the one who said people were telling you your price should be more? If that"s the case see if they are right or wrong. Please don't think I"m looking to beat you up. When your price was $850, I know you had some potential clients balk at your starting price. We have had people like that. No matter what the price is they will not spend it. Some just think all we do is play music and how hard could that be.

Never mind your years of experience and all you had to go through to be as good as you are today. Not to mention the amount of money spent on the gear you use. How's about you know the right time to play what music? I've seen some that had some great gear but blew the event because they played the wrong type of music at the right time. I've seen this more than once. I certainly believe that's not you. Have a great day sir.
