This is something else. I did this event last year for this guys wife I know. He called me yesterday to do it again. The event will be at NJIT in Newark from 11am to 5pm. It's going to be on June 2nd. What's funny is that is my 60th birthday. So I get to make some money on my birthday to add to what I will already have to help celebrate my birthday . So when I finish doing that I'll probably go to a casino with a friend of mine to help me celebrate my birthday . The event is a easy one. Mostly back ground music for women coming to speak about the book they wrote. At the end some dance music and it's a rap. So I get to make some money on my birthday and plenty of time left to celebrate my birthday after that.
 
This sounds like another 'speaker' event. As Tunes said, do you have a signed contract? Is this for just you - or are you going to be taking pictures?

It will be me playing background music for most of the event. There will probably be some lady singing a couple of songs and at the end me playing dance music as they get things ready to go. I know there will be some women there that I know.

While walking around Disney's Hollywood Studios today, I received a phone call from a lady looking to book me for THIS SATURDAY MAY 19th! ...LOL. I am not doing it. Going to be too exhausted from getting home around 11 pm to Mid Night after driving back from vacation the night before. I also am pretty sure I will need a R&R day to recuperate after this vacation!

What is a coincidence, is that this would also be more of a background music gig. The client wants a speaker set up outside for a hook up for a I Pod so they can play a pre set song list. Then I would do music inside. The event is 5 to 11 pm and almost a 90 minute drive from my house. After driving so much the day before, I know to just pass on it.

Plus my gig on Sunday start's at 1 and I have to be there at 11:30 am for load in.

I highly recommend using a well typed up agreement when booking the client Mix. ...Don't even call it a contract when speaking with the client...Call it an agreement :)
