OK guys, I know I have been anti SCRIM since they came out. However, I got the itch to at least try it out with up lights under them. SO I ordered a pair of scrums since the price came down a good bit over the years. Through a EZPAR 56 under each one, and this is the look! ...I did this wedding on Saturday night! I got compliments on how it looked, and posted to facebook, and a couple of people said my set up looked Beautiful! ...OK a 3rd person said it was beautiful too (me)

I think I upped my visual game just a bit with this set up.

White thick facade with scrims at a wedding DJ Ricky.jpg
Compare that with my standard set up with a basic light show
Basic Set Up with Basic Lights.jpg

The picture I posted to facebook with the scrims got like 15 likes where as my standard set up when I post it only gets like 3 or 4 likes. ...As much as I dislike the tee pee look, I think with an up light inside of the scrim, nobody thinks of it as a "tee pee" and it really works some magic visually for most people!

What do you think?

I agree completely. I didn't like the teepee look either but when you put uplights under them, totally different impression. Wait until you go with wireless DMX. I had teepees, dj stand, floor wash and wall uplights all in sync together and it was a big improvement over what I've been doing.

Good pics so far. I think showing the backside is just as important. Thanks Nightmare! Like your DJ setup!

Did you provide the light curtain in the back? It looks great. Also, what about the front board? That looks like a full desk, not just a facade. Personally, I think this look puts you into a whole different category.

The big difference here is the desk, not the scrims. The scrims make more sense against white furniture and the back drop in that photo. If you put the same scrim in the second photo, I don't think you'd get the same effect.

No, the venue has a permanent lighted drape there apparently. It's where the usually place the DJ. Also, the venue owner had that facade built for DJs to use. He gave me an option, use a 6 foot skirted table, or try his facade with a 4.5 foot table.

I then found those "totems" or pillars...whatever they are usually called behind the drape. I am sure they are used for something else typically, BUT I pulled them out, and put my mini movers on there. The venue owner really liked the look.

The facade this guy had took 2 of us to move it around. It was very heavy, and not for portable use. Very sturdy though. Probably weighed 90 lbs.

I am not considering purchasing a white full facade in the near future, BUT I really need something that folds good, and is light weight. I am thinking lycra so I can up light it, along with the scrimmed speaker stands.

Some of my recent setups. I don't post much here lol
I have deep respect for anyone running DVS and still moving turntables around. My neodymium 12" tops don't even weigh that much!

Yes still using SSL has been rock solid for me for a long time eventually going to upgrade
You'll have to - your next Mac probably won't run it!

JBL system (though I recently sold the subs)

Karaoke setup (I tied down the wires after the shot)

EVOX (though I need a brighter room setup)

You've waited long enough that you have another viable Rane option now. For a long time after the 62, it felt like the S9 was the only viable battle mixer option out there. Granted... I love mine, but the new Rane looks pretty damn cool.

You let your Dog perform at a gig!? How did it go? Was mixing on point? Did you just MC, and let him/her be the DJ? ...Was "Who Let the Dogs Out" Played?

The dogs LOVE to play! They like 'Who Let The Dogs Out' - and others like Atomic Dog, Hound Dog and Black Dog to name a few. :) Their mixing is better than on point - and they can scratch! I have MC'd for them, but they're a team, so alot of times it's all them - I'm usually just the roadie.
