As of yesterday, Pulselocker, which provided a streaming add-on to Serato, PCDJ and maybe a few others, has closed up shop ... not sure what it means for the few other services trying this with VDJ, etc. I also hope no one here was relying on that content for a gig this weekend ....

Dear Pulselocker Customer,

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we have to send this message. As of today, November 10th, 2017, Pulselocker is ceasing operations.

Six years ago we set out to provide a unique service to the DJ community—we believe we succeeded in providing something truly revolutionary that was well received by all of you. Due to a combination of market circumstances and financial constraints, we must re-organize our current structure if we are to successfully serve you in the future. After exhaustively searching for alternatives, we have made the extremely hard decision to shut down our operations.

We realize this news comes incredibly fast and we are truly sorry for the inconveniences this may cause. Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for the support you’ve shown Pulselocker and our deepest apologies for the speed and inconvenience of this announcement.

We will continue to search for ways to bring the service back to you in a bigger and better way. We are proud of the community that rallied behind our technology and thank you for your support and patronage.

Sincerely,

The Pulselocker Team

Another good reason why I DON'T rely on streaming services. Not sure there will ever be one reliable enough to suit me.[emoji4]

Did they send that letter the same day they ceased operations?

But imagine if you put your "faith" in a certain streaming music service .. only to find out it really didn't matter how good of a cellular or WiFi connection you had .. you're getting squat from now forward .. might freak me out if I was setting up for a gig this past weekend .. :)

I hope you didnt think I was saying they have no reason to be freaking out, I was adding they freak out over a lot things, some minor, some major and deserved of a freak out. (Talking about all the DJ FB groups)

Its sucks they got left high and dry without any real warning .

No .. I didn't think that ... just that there have been a few threads in the past couple of months with others extolling the fact that buying music is getting passé and this is the future. Might be the future, but it's not quite baked yet.

I use the content unlimited in virtual DJ quite often, if do end up getting a lot of requests for a song I will eventually purchase it
I think "using" it is great ... might be an issue for those "depending" on it for most content.

I agree with you, I dont think we are there yet, its a great secondary way to get music, but should not be a DJ's sole way of getting music, same page, we are on.

Are they back up and running? Their website is up and no mention of it and it appears they will let you sign up for the service

If you support DJs, it's probably more courteous to go out of business on a Monday...

But on all of these streaming stuff - I quite frankly don't have a problem with not having someone request. Obviously you need a competent base of music. But I never make any claim to have every song ever made. If I don't have somebody's obscure country request... it makes my life a little easier in saying no to playing it.

If you try to sign up (I just tried) ... it fails.
