EV EKX15sp VS RCF 705-ASll

Probably comparable ... I really like the RCF .. both are under 60 pounds, so fairly easy to move around.

Looking at the numbers, the RCF is only down 3db at 40Hz, the EV is down 10db. EV has a slightly higher max SPL. EV sits lower and horizontal, the RCF sites more vertical.

I've heard both, but neither in a place I could tell much difference.

I was not impressed by the ekx. It a good value but it doesn't kick hard enough for me. F1 sub hit harder. If I had to chose between the two, i would get the rcf

With that said, a pair of ekx 15s on each side would be awesome.

Lucky for me I have a pair, I really wasnt going after that hard hitting bass to be honest, and I wanted not so freaking heavy, I knew I was going to have to give hard hitting lower freqs going with 15's. If I need chest thumping bass, I can rent .

I was running 10" tops over a pair of 15" DIY Neo subs, crossed over at 100 Hz. The bass is never going to be real deep, but I don't want it to sound lean either. Moving the crossover higher to 120 Hz helped, but it started to sound boomy. Due to my age and my vehicle, going up to 18" subs is N/G, so instead I increased the tops to 12" (Eminence Deltalite II's with Neo magnet). Everything is still light, it all fits in the car, still crossed over at 100Hz, but definitely more "weight" to the bass without "boom". I was afraid the 12's would make the mid-range noticeably more directional, but so far so good.

Well I think i'm going with the RCF 705ASll, I'm just have a hard time pulling the trigger because I can not listen to them first.
If you can wait a week, I'll let you know what they're going for at the DJ Expo and who the vendor is. I think it's usually Chuck Levin's Music Center in Washington DC. They normally get extra incentives from the factory during these events.
