Loop the beginning of Time by Pink Floyd.:sqlaugh:

Thinking about that song got me curious about it's production.
From Wikipedia (so it must be true right?)...interesting...

Each clock at the beginning of the song was recorded separately in an antiques store. This is followed by an eerie two-minute passage dominated by Nick Mason's rototoms and backgrounded by a tocking sound created by Roger Waters picking two muted strings on his bass. With David Gilmour singing lead on the verses and with Richard Wright singing lead on the bridges and with female singers providing backup vocals, the lyrics of the song deal with Roger Waters's realization that life was not about preparing yourself for what happens next, but about grabbing control of your own destiny.

Ok...back to the thread...

Albany are you looking for like an intro to the awards presentation, if so would it be inappropriate to use a pump up song like jock jams?

If you're looking for pieces to play as recipients come down, if its a fun crowd price is right or maybe loop the start of time after time for the rolex part.
Really a million ideas come to mind give us a little more info on what you are wanting to achieve

or how about the portion of Fly Like an Eagle where STEVE MILLER talks about Time ticking into the future. Loop that part.

The Rocky theme is a nice up beat song for corporate awards. The Eye Of The Tiger might be good too. The Ghostbusters theme has a nice catchy theme if you can loop just the instrumental part it would be cool. I'd say that what kind of business the company is in might provide opportunities for song selections.

when I do this type of event I try to find out what the awards will be given for (sales person of the year, most improved, etc...) and a little bit about each recipient. Then I pick a piece of music for each award or person.

Example:

Highest sales of the year: Money- Pink Floyd

or if I can't find a song that makes me think of that award I will ask about the person:

Mike is a biker - Bad to the Bone.

This will make the people receiving the awards feel truly appreciated.

I roll with Mr Benoit on this one,,,, but I will add, ask them what "feel" they want,,,, if it's upbeat,,,, and you can't get the info on each person, find out how many awards they are doing ...

I have a CD I made just for these....

Rock n Roll pt 2
Hawaii 5-0
Oh Yeah
Rocky Theme
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (in case a girl wins)
We Are Family ( in case it is a group deal, like a division getting an award)
Get Ready For This
Axel F the new one by Crazy Frog
We Are The Champions
Full Intention ( look it up)
In The Mood ( in case the person is old)

there are some others but without going into the van, that's the best I can do...

Eye Of The Tiger

Hall Of The Mountain King ( Music only) From Beowulf

Elvis intro to CC Ryder looped ( see below )

2001 Space Odyssey ( Thus Spake Zarathustra)

One of the awards at an event was for a guy known as a maverick, big time non-conformist ( I always get some background on the winners or possible winners in advance- just for this purpose). On a gut feeling I popped in Wild Thing. The place went nuts- they LOVED it! It was a big chance to take, but sometimes going with your gut can pay off very well.

My initial thought was to focus on the "Award" aspect.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Soundtrack (The Oscars use this)

Muppet Show Theme song

Simply The Best - Tina Turner

Right Here, Right Now- Van Halen

Unbelievable- EMF

Right Now- Jesus Jones

Thanks to all of your replies so far..She was just looking for some kind of background music for the awards show. Nothing upbeat, really..Any suggestions are great! :sqwink:

Ah. More like cocktail music for background?

Carribean Blue or other Enya tracks are always good for background...
