WWE says Wrestlemania will go on as scheduled. City of Tampa Government might decide otherwise...

I watched about 20 minutes of it tonight...Watching Stone Cold Come out, and stand on the ropes as if guests were there, and then get on the mic and acknowledge that nobody is there in the stands, and he starts telling jokes was just weird. I think their ratings are about to drop. ...Then again more people are at home bored now, so maybe the ratings might remain.
I guess you could say the same things about NASCAR, NBA and any other activities that people watch on TV which also include a live audience.

I would play golf if it wasn't 45 deg and windy outside.
Golf seems to be the safest activity right now. The way I play, I’m usually 100’s of feet away from anyone else😁

So odd watching Smackdown Friday night with NO audience.....no energy...

The plan for Wrestlemania is to change the to venue to the WWE training facility....
and do it entirely Pay-Per-View.

I'm actually surprised Pay-Per-View isn't making a killing off of social distancing.
They could broadcast sporting events, concerts, and darn near anything else that has been cancelled.

The problem is you’d still have production people there, making “social distancing” very difficult if not impossible.

Well, of course. The wrestlers would have to show up, too!
The CDC is suggesting cancelling events of 50 people or more...
and they not talking about workers/employees.
The employees ALREADY work with each other every day.

Wasn’t talking about wrestling specifically. 😁. I was referring to why they arent scrambling to create a bunch of pay per view events.

See .. still don't understand that as for golf, NASCAR, baseball, etc the media is like 200-500' away ...

What I don't understand is why the government needs to have 10 people bunched up together so they are on camera during a press conference

Yeah...could only watch a few minutes.....so sad to see.....WWE is getting desperate.

I found the quality of matches better. Although you could hear them calling spots the actual moves were great

They are talking about putting 250 former superstars in the audience for ambiance

What I'm trying to say is... the ban on attended events
is to stop hundreds or thousands of strangers from being in the same place,
and possibly infecting all those who attend.
It's not about the handful of employees that will be working the event.
The cameramen and production crew all work together,
so if one has it...they all have it.

Just like me right now at work.
We are limiting guests in the studio.
That is to prevent someone from bringing the virus in.
If someone inside already has it....
then everyone who works here potentially has it too...
and it prevents us from infecting someone from the outside.
(who will then go home and share it with MORE people)

They can easily run NASCAR and probably golf without an audience .. can't see the audience in racing anyway and they quiet them in golf. Baseball would be a little tougher, since teams kind of thrive off the noise, but it "could" be done.

All those events are outside and "social distancing" shouldn't be an issue .. just have to work on the commentary folks and interviews would need to be "re-conceived".

Video replay, music, and sometimes off field/ice officiating are done from generally small booths with a lot of people per square foot that might be a problem

They can assign 1 per booth and/or do it remote to the track. Just saying it CAN be done for some of these events ...

Not sure the arena/field/stadium/track owners will want their space used without spectators unless the governing bodies figure out proper compensation though ...

Exactly. I heard one basketball player say that he wouldn't play with no one in the stands.
I can ALMOST understand...as I am sure some players need a crowd to add excitement and cheer them on.
Broadway plays could easily be shown via video....but they, too feed off the audience.
With Nascar, you are spot on. Never understood the thrill of sitting in the stands for 3 hours watching cars make circles.
Since ANY form of televised entertainment is centered around RATINGS...
I just can't figure out why they're not taking advantage of a HUGE captive audience.

I see a lot of internet providers supplying free internet for students and families stuck at home.
This COULD be the start of the "free internet for everyone" movement.
