Consumer Reports and survey companies like them...
are just like the Arbitron Radio Ratings.
Everybody can find something good in the results to brag about.
In other words, you can cherry pick the info that suits your agenda.

If you’ve ever worked in manufacturing, you’d know those quality ratings really mean something. Your competitors tout their ratings if they’re higher than yours, and customers are aware aware of how your product compares. I worked for a company that actively completed for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Why???... For the prestige and to be able to use it as a selling attribute.

I compare radio ratings to grade 4 soccer everyone wins :)

Back to wireless mics, and some feedback (Ha!) on the AKG WMS40 Mini Dual system I ended up getting.

Bottom line, they worked great at the Karaoke house party. When you read reviews of AKG WMS40 Mini, you'll see very conflicting remarks between the single mic version and the dual mic version. The dual version does not have a summed channel 1+2 output - I had to run two separate balanced cables from each channel of the Mini Dual to the two inputs of my DBX GoRack. If people were using a plain "Y" cable on the Mini Dual outputs (which is a big no-no with low impedance outputs), it might account for this.

Yes... It is. American Audio VMS 4.1 - $399; Denon MC6000 MK2 - $799... Is there anyone else in the DJ business (other than you) who thinks the Denon MC6000 MK2 is NOT a better controller than the American Audio VMS 4.1? Nuff said.[emoji1]

Firemen don’t own the truck, don’t buy the truck, and are not running a business or trying to make a profit.[emoji1]
Hmmm I paid $799 for my first Denon also but I bought 3 more when they were less than $300

The most you'd get would be a group pizza party for a good ratings book.
My friends that still struggle in the terrestrial radio biz would take that free meal in a heart beat. The best they typically get is "Congrats, y'all still have a job...but tomorrow is another day."

I thank God I was warned, decades ago, by a friend to stay away from a radio career.

And you did yourself a HUGE favor by following that advice.

You are correct about "free meals".
Everyone knows that there is ONE way to get rid of food.....
leave it in the break room of any radio station!

You are wrong about "Conrats"....but correct about "tomorrow".
The current radio theory is to make employees feel useless, worthless, and just seconds away from being fired.
No one is ever congratulated.
They figure that employees who are in fear of their job, will work harder for less pay.

I find most people that are in fear for their job will often just find a new job. If they are truly in fear because they have a job that no one else would hire them for or compensate them in the same range, that should tell them that something is wrong.

I don't need anyone's congratulations. If you appreciate my work, it should show in my compensation. If you don't appreciate it, that will show as well.

My half brother did the vary same thing, told me to stay away from radio, ( dad and brother both had careers in radio)

95% of the time Id agree, I'd agree.

I used a Sennheiser ew-d1 for the first time.
E845 capsule
Retail price $549-$599
Digital 2.4ghz

I bought it used for $300

Pairing couldn't be easier. Just hit "pair" and hold the mic near the receiver. When paired, both the mic and receiver show green. Red if not paired.

Had crystal clear operation all night. The sound was very good.
The battery did seem like it drained a bit faster than my typical mics, but that could be that I got more detailed battery information, so it looked like it was draining quicker.

Not that I really need it, but the unit does offer it's own EQ and auto gain control.

I had no problem with signal anywhere in the hall. The unit does offer a "walk test" feature, allowing you to walk the room and see if there's a spot that could give you signal issues. Just to see what happens when you lose signal, I walked out into the hallway and down a ways, , the signal bars dropped and a caution icon came up. I was pretty far away AND through a wall.
The handheld mic works on 2 AA batteries.

This is only 1 test, but it seems like it works just fine for a wedding. If I was buying new, I'd probably still buy the Sennheiser ew100G4 for the same price. It does seem like the G4 holds the value better. I don't think I could find a G4 for $300.

This unit did come with a hard black plastic case, so that's nice.

ok......gonna brace myself for some major hate...lol...

So...i need to buy a new wireless mic set for 2019... i was using an INNOPOW system that was in the 600 mghz range....i bought it when i first got back into djing just to have a wireless set up when the need arises...i use wired mics in the booth.... so this is just for speeches etc.... i was blown away by how good it sounded and how reliable it was for that price... the reviews on it sold me... i figured ...worse case scenario... if its garbage im only out a buck fifty...

Anyway...flash to today... was planning on getting a shure system.... but noticed this ....its an updated version of my exact set up... in the 500 mghz range...

So...if its a mic i love and trust.... am i an idiot to just drop another 135 on this?

seems its biggest negative reviews on the old set are based on the 600 mghz situation...so with that solved....hmmmmmm

Just say no, to Innopow-o ... :)

Seems to be the same inexpensive components as the GtD system (maybe even the same chips). No hate here, though a bit of agita ..

Nope. You are not being a professional unless you spend at least $500 on a wireless mic system. And to be honest, you really should spend at least $1,000 if you really care about quality, and your clients!:rolleyes::cool:;)

Has nothing to do with the dollars spent. These are not listed as diversity reception and with the limited freq space available, the RF sections need to work even harder to reject noise.
