I have to say that I 100% subcribe to the, you get what you pay for mantra , but, I also believe that there are some rare times that you can get decent products and not have to spend a premium. I will be will sticking with my somewhere in the 600 range GTD mics for a while longer , I would like to get a system that has much smaller foot print on the reciver side.

Lots of times that's true....One of the best mixers I've ever owned is the MG10 and it's under $200. It rivals my much more expensive Soundcraft

I have a 4ch mixer I got from Radio Shack back in like 2005 and it still works, its nothing special and I would probably still use it(with tape over the Radio Shack) if it had XLR connectors. Its pretty decent for a Radio Shack product.

I actually had a copy of one of those for a while but it was 2 channel if I recall. The thing was as tough as a boiled owl. Fell off the roof of the car one time still worked. it's still around here somewhere if I can find it I'll post a pic

I believe it, the one I have is very solid, does not feel cheap , I don't know if it could stand up tp falling off a roof though, I do have to say, that is a odd place to keep ones mixer, is that a Canadian thing ?.....................................................:D

I still have my first mixer as well. A
Radio Shack 2 channel model I bought in the late 80’s. I actually used it for my very first gig. It still works, but with all the gear I have now, I can’t see using it ever again.[emoji4]

I wanted to test to see how smooth I drive and I also wanted to air it out so I did both at the same time :)

I'm guessing that for over $200 they would include mute buttons?

I'm partial to the M32R as a great deal.

Yeah that no mute button is a bit inconvenient but for what I do with it i can bring my e835 with a switch. it’s not bad. The M32R is a nice unit

Unfortunately, sometimes we tend to hang on to these rare “victories” as a justification for going the cheaper route even though we know deep down the safer route is paying for a name brand. Gamblers tend to remember the few times they win and forget the times they lose😄

“Cheap” is such a relative term. If you’re using it to describe quality, then it’s somewhat subjective. I’ve made several relatively inexpensive purchases of gear that turned out to be some of my favorites. I do as much research as I can, read all the reviews, get hands-on whenever possible, and shop for deals. It’s what I’ve always done. People can pay premium prices and buy premium brands, but those may not be the best business decisions. Buying top-of-the line is great if your business can earn more as a result, but that is so rarely the case.

As an example, my first controller was an American Audio VMS 4.1. Now I’m using a Denon MC6000 MK2, which cost more than twice as much. The VMS 4.1 did pretty much the same stuff and was a much better built controller. It still looks and works like new. I don’t make one cent more now than when I used the VMS 4.1. So, frankly the switch to the Denon was not such a smart business decision. I love my Denon, but I bought it out of gear lust, not business sense. Having gear lust is fine just as long as you recognize that’s what’s motivating you.[emoji1]

I politely disagree -
1) No such thing as having too many controllers.
2) MC6000 MK2 works with Serato, VMS 4.1 does not.

First, let me agree there’s no such thing as having too many controllers. However, that’s a symptom of gear whoring, which is somewhat related to gear lust.[emoji1]

Secondly, I’m a Traktor guy, so no big deal that my VMS 4.1 is not supported by Serato.[emoji4]
