Dance Classics... Disco to Freestyle. It's pretty much my entire set when I'm DJing at the casinos, as their clientele is primarily in the 40-to-60 year-old age group.

My favorite segments of the night are where I've got some shock value transitions.

I've shared some videos with some of these. But I have an acapella out quick hitter of Fat Bottom Girls that I normally drop into Teach Me How to Dougie that gets a really fun reaction.

I also do a mix from Miley - Party in the USA into Britney - Hit me Baby One More Time, into Daft Punk - One More Time that is really fun for the right crowd.

I need to do some work on coming up with some new ones, but it creates really fun moments on the dance floor.

My favorite genre is Disco. Since I’m still in the College market I don’t get a chance to play it very often like I used to. 25 years ago we had a 70s Video Dance Party which was popular. Now the student like my son were born in the 2000’s. So stuff from the 90’s is considered old. They do know the Disco music, maybe they have parents like me when I’m driving I control the music. Me in the car: Shut up and listen or I’ll tell one of my long stories about the old days.

What method for transition do you use for that large BPM gap?

I slam it hard on the vocal. I think I even made a video of it at some point but I'll look later.

Basically I go from Britney singing "Hit me baby...." and cut hard into Daft Punk going "One more time!"

LOVE THE FREESTYLE. Thats what we did 90% on the old WKTU.com! I have about 5 crates of it! Wish we could play it more outhere in Denver, but really it works best in NY/NJ/Florida. That said, there are definitely some freestyle fans out here. Wish it would make a comeback and we had some new tracks!

My most recent gigs have been at a loungey bar restaurant where I play Deep House & Nu Disco.
Didnt know I'd enjoy playing Deep House as much as I do...but thats my favorite right now.

It may sound cliche, but my favorite genre to play is the ones that are right for the crowd I’m playing to.

when Im playing music for me, it’s all over the place…from classic rock, rap, r&b, country, folk, new wave, 80’s to 2000 pop, some metal. just havent been able to listen to thrash metal long enough to find something I like.

I agree, it’s much less about what I like, I am well versed enough to play successfully for nearly any crowd, I get more out of entertaining than I do listening to music

the last time i did an actual show was when i was in hospital radio (it spanned across 3 huge hospitals), some of the felow DJs had an extremely dark humour and in a lot of ways was disrespectful as they woud be playing songs that used dying or death, funerals and cremation, ring of fire for example i remember being a favourite with them, its being played out to ill people, some who were dying-its just not right?

a 90s favourite of mine at the time was a song by the fugees, ready or not -it was on there MP3 system of safe songs and i was a big fugees fan, didnt get to hear there much better album released before the score until about...2 years ago on itunes.

i do however have a recorded non live mix on soundcloud, its base is house music, but its tinged with a bit of everything from afro house to electro house, to jackin house, tech and funky house etc. the tracklisting is:
1)Banho de Folhas - Luedji Luna (Maz (BR) Remix)
2)Cajmere ft Dajae - Brighter Days (Marco Lys Rremix)
3)Zsak - House Thing (Extended Mix)
4)Walker & Royce ft Nala - Not About You (Extended Mix)
5)Skream & Jansons -World Is Empty (Extended Mix)
6)Todd Terry ft Riva Starr - This Is The Sound
7)Demuir - Beat 6 (canuexplain) (original Mix)
8)Jamie Jones - My Paradise (Vintage Culture Extended Remix)
9)Mark Broom & Riva Starr ft Star B - Love Will Remain
(original Remix)
10)Armand Van Helden ft Mark Knight - The Music Began To Play
(Extended Remix)
