What's your definition of BIG RIG

I don't think watts are as important as this thread is making them. But I would say at 4 arrays of 20 speakers each at 2500 watts per speaker lets say a starting point of 200000 watts.

So about 5200w?

yea, and at near concert levels. The mains are 106db at 1watt, making them quite efficient. Each pair of subs will do 107db (coupling advantage) at 1 watt. I can maintain 110 to 115db at mix position, usually about 75 feet. No, it won't compare to huge line arrays, but if the customer needs that, they hire somebody else!

Efficiency is the key.

Joe,

As I said I have that much available honestly I am not looking to increase on that.

I have actually been trying to reduce what i have over time.

My rigs are small.

Small system contains 2 15"s for tops with 2 double 10" subs.

Big system contains 4 15"s and 2 18" subs.

I do well with these set up's no need for more at the current time.

Extremely well thought out set up!

You and me both, brother.....I can't remember the last time I ran the 5000W rig.

Why carry more than I need?

I can do 8 tops and 8-18"s but like joe if I need more I can get anything I need from my neigbor, he owns the largest sound company in this area. But for most shows I have more than enough. Most will not pay what the larger shows would cost. I have never seen a school event that would need a line arrway. I did do a large college event with 2000 people, but still covered with normal setup plus a little extra.

My definition of big rig is when in the 1990's I used to go to raves in the uk, 80k of Martin Audio F2, now thats big rig, or even bigger was a rave in milton keynes in 1994, 125k of Turbosound packed into a 12,000sq ft warehouse. AWESOME.

I've got enough to stay amused.......link to equipment page if ya care to look:

The pic of the speakers doesn't show the additional MP418S subs, MP415 tops or the Eon15G2's.

Best,

Paul

Nice system. I'd personally be happy with 4 JBL SRX728 subs with 4 SRX725 mid/highs, with the SRX728 subs run of a couple of Crown MA5002VZ amps and the mid/highs run from a Camco Vortex 6 or Lab Gruppen FP+6400.

After careful consideration.

After a great deal of consideration -
If you need a big rig to get your big rig there it is a big rig indeed.

We all have different ideas of what "big" is,,,, but for my last wedding of 25 people this is the system I used....

This is the system I run for my big shows, except I run a QSC plx3102 to each speaker.
