I was doing a class reunion and someone came up and asked for "Cocain" and told me the place would go nuts,,, so I kept them there and announced it, that it was a special request and played it...

It was the biggest song of the night. People came from everywhere.... who knew..

Locked Up - Akon
Folsom Prison Blues - Johnny Cash

Bride and Groom requested these for "Uncle Goose", who just got out of prison in time for the wedding. Needless to say, this was a real red-neck affair....and boy-howdy did they party!

Different Reception:

Pata-Pata - Miriam Makeba

Believe it or not, we had this one. An older gentleman asked for it and he about fell over when we told him that we had it...made his night.

Folsom Prison Blues - Johnny Cash

Hey! Me too!

A few weeks ago. It was requested, I thought, "What the heck (?)," I played it, and the place went nuts!

This weekend's groom wants a Paul Todd song to dance with his mother. Who's Paul Todd? He used to play guitar for Iron Maiden...for two days.

Folsom Prison Blues - Johnny Cash
I get that one all the time and also Ring of fire. Its been especially often since Walk the Line came out

On a side note did you know that Preperation H tried to licence Ring of fire for one of thier commercials. i read that not that long ago

Back when I was still cutting my toofuses, a request came from the groom at a less than, almost uncomfortably less than, formal reception to hear, and since I was rollin' vinyl at the time I had albums, Bitch, a less than loving cut, off the Stones Sticky Fingers and wanted it dedicated to his new bride. I wasn't going to make that dedication so I gave less than sober groom the mic and ducked. To my surprise the bride screamed with joy and ran to her man and the place went nuts. I guess everybody knew it was their song. Gotta Love Bikers.

How many have it if they asked? (Without prior notice)

Ever had anybody come up and ask you to play the theme song from "Lost in Space"? Or maybe a grown-up ask for the "Barney" song?

Post your strangest request!

Here is a question close to the same topic. How many people carry oddball music? Like maybe the theme from 007 or Colonel Bogey March (Bridge over the River Kwai Theme) or old TV series themes like The Adams Family? Hey there's another thread Halloween Music.

I feel ya there balance. I've been lugging, for yeeeeeeeeeeeears (really drag out the year syllable to get the intended effect), at least two books of oddball music that I rarely, if ever dig in, but to be without it is unnerving, to say the least.

The book are home to dozens of wacky TV theme discs, one hit wonders, sound effects, Dr. Demento stuff, Comedy bits; an eclectic collection, fo shizzle.
