What online music source do you use when someone request a song at an event you're doing that you don't have?

I checked out Beatsource and decided to sign up for a 30 day free trial. I liked it because it said you don't have to have a internet connection and it goes way back. Not just to a lot of the garbage of today but I found a song by The Temptations called Stay and I looked up James Brown. There it was. It said on each song add. I will get with my partner to find out how to add songs I don't have to my HD. If I like it I will be using it at gigs where I get a request for a song I don't have to play at the event.

Evidently you don't understand what you're doing .. if you do not stay with Beatsource, you must remove any and all tracks that you obtained / received from them. It's a free trial .. not free music.

I understand clearly. It's a trial to get you hooked on their service. Many companies do that. Just like for example cable companies give you a discount price to get you hooked and later on the price goes up. By that time they normally know most people won't cancel the service. I've known some that keep switching from one service to another to get the special deals they have. Just need to find out when it says add, how to add a song to my HD.

When you click add, you're generally going to be adding the song to a playlist that you are creating. So you may need to start by creating a playlist first.

You also need to make sure you enable Beatsource in your DJ Software.

Then to download the file for offline use, you drag the song to your "Beatlocker"

This is how it works with Serato, I don't know about VDJ:

I assume (I don't know) that offline storage of Beatsource downloads may be rights managed. If so, you will need an active login or subscription key in order for your DJ software to load and play them. It's possible the files you download will not be accessible when the free trial expires

I'm not a wizard at any of this stuff including downloading a song to my HD. How does this program work with VDJ? So far I like it.

Not familiar with vdj, but as stated above by Albatross, you can download songs into your locker to use offline(not connected to internet). It’s not like you can download and keep unlimited songs from Beatsouce in your library. When you discontinue service with Beatsource, you lose the music in your locker.

As with ALL music subscriptions, you can download songs while connected and play them without a connection. I’d call that “having a song” But you won’t be able to find or play any songs that have not been downloaded to that device without a connection.

So, any subscription without an internet connection won’t help you get a song you don’t have.

any service works IF YOU PAY FOR IT.

I've used spotify, applemusic and currently use Youtube.

See, i you pay for youtube premium, $15/month, you get ad free youtube videos AND youtube music, w/ capability to DL the music (or videos).

When I had spotify I paid the $13/month and could DL the music, and of course it's ad-free.

lack of internet here is a common occurance.
My last wedding was at a new barn venue, less than 2 years old, OUT THERE in teh country.

NO internet. NO cell service. If you didn't bring it, you won't have it.

I have both of these services! I watch a lot of youtube videos, and my reason for paying for youtube premium is because I simply got tired of the ads.

This is also completely true. The main problem are those rural wedding venues way out there. Probably 1 in 5 of the venues I work at have this issue. No cell service No Wi Fi offered by venue.

I finally decided on Youtube Premium. They give you 3 free months and it's $11.99 a month after that. You can download music and videos. That cuts out ads and you should be able to get any song you want.

I just signed up to YouTube premium. They give you 3 free months and $11.99 after that. That's a great deal. You can dowload music and videos. We don't do videos and I guess you can get any song you want new or old. Obviously you have to have internet service. I will be looking on Wed. to get a hot spot as my phone has issues with getting online. A lot of times I have to restart my phone to get to a site online.

My question is why are you so unprepared at events that this is a core concern of yours? iTunes is 1.29 a song… do you get asked for $100 worth of music on the spot at events?

To be fair for most of us it's an easy fix. For Mix he isn't very technologically savvy and iTunes can be more complicated than YouTube music especially if you have to convert from AAC to MP3. Does VDJ play AAC? I know Mixmeister doesn't that's why I said that.

For me YouTube music would be a very last resort for quality reasons it's probably the worst sounding of all the streamers

You would think later versions of vdj can accommodate it. I’d be shocked to see otherwise. Unless he’s on version 1 lol idk…

After a quick search it looks like it can since V6 I still think importing from iTunes may be a little much on him
