Why i use virtual dj... low on resources, reliable most of the time, wide configuration for soundcards, vinyl portability, scratching right on the decks, and time stretching (key matching)

I use the U46DJ USB Soundcard by ESI it is pretty stable, flexible, and has plenty of inputs and outputs to satisfy me. Works with Time Coded Vinyl/CD's etc. Also features low latency ASIO drivers.... Which i have found to improve performance (apparently from my point of view)

Together this combination creates a reliable show, and it "just works". I know we are represented by several different djs in this forum... club, mobile, and CD djs (picking on Brian).

I do prefer Virtual DJ over the rock solid PCDJ Red, why? VDJ is actively being developed. Now I have met the fathers and designers of the PCDJ Red engine and the matching DAC-1 & DAC-2. They are wonderful guys, if you get a chance to meet them. I cannot rely on software that is going nowhere... much like a tape or 8-Track. It just doesn't make much sense to me. However to some, the PCDJ Red program is right up their ally.

Sorry i've pretty much made an AD for VDJ... sorries. Back to regular programmed threading.

Back when I had windows I tried them all. vDJ, PCDJ, Ots. I liked ots if only for it's simple and easy to use functionality. vDJ was the most awesome of them all; packed with features and never crashed for me. I'm pretty sure Pioneer came out their own software, I never tried as I understand it from reviews it's pretty unstable.

If I ever talk my friend into letting me borrow his MacBook pro, I'd like to try out megseg.

The platform:
For now Windows is the way to go for DJs if you want flexabilty.
Mac doesn't have very many options, what's there two programs? I'd venture to say from my limited experience with mac, they're the most stable.
Linux which I personally use on my desktop ('cause I'm almost a geek) is rock solid but has only a few sparsely support options and I wouldn't trust them to run a show.
