What is the next gig you have to do?

Mixy you are delusional because you think another low paying job is going to get you a real paying gig. NEVER going to happen. As for you being Mr. nice guy, I could careless what you think you are going to do. You are a joke always will be a joke on here. You are simply entertainment and nothing more.
Let me suggest this. I don't want to battle you or come do a set where you're playing in a bar because I might not be the right DJ for the place. Let's do this sir. Let me know when you have a public event to do like in a bar and I can see if I can make it to hear you play and support you. You do the same so neither one of us is caught off guard. What about it so we can meet and see each other in action and not just us running our mouths off. Keep in mind sir I'm not in competition with anybody.

Now onto what you said. Right now I'm just looking at ways to get work. You're the one who said no high paying jobs will come from this. Right now I don't know many DJs around here are doing events with venues closing down for good and all the restrictions going. Those Legon Halls are really taking a major hit and some are looking at closing for good. When you call me a joke, that's fine because you don't help pay any of my bills. When you start helping me pay bills then I will pay more attention to you. At this time this is about survival mode. Going forward those high paying gigs you talk about doing might dry up. I hope they don't for you because I wish you well along with everybody on here. Even the ones I don't like. I think of 2 songs right now in these changing times. Brass Construction Times Are Changing and EWF Keep Your Head To The Sky.

Mixy see the issue has never been what I think of your Doing. For what you do you are good at playing house music. What you cannot do is play a diverse crowd and make them want to have fun. You are a joke because for years everyone on these boards have given you advice to make you be able to get those higher paying gigs but you refuse to listen because you think you know better and yet still do nothing but lo paying or free jobs. That is what makes you a joke.

As for the current situation and things closing ect. I along with others have come up with ways to still make money and get gigs. The halls that I play at have no intention of closing or going out of business so I do not have to worry about those things. My clients are not going anywhere and will still pay the prices to get me to play. You have limited yourself to a small little are and a small group of people to book you and that is your issue. Again the only thing I need to do to prove my worth as a dj is the amount of jobs I get and the avg price for those jobs which is well above anything you have ever booked.

Jimmy let me please say this. First off I just wanted to come and hear you play to see if your feet match your mouth. I normally don't go to hear a DJ unless it's a friend of mine. I support friends of mine that DJ sometimes. The lady I used to date couldn't believe I didn't hang out. It usually doesn't excite me to hear another DJ play. I'm not getting paid. It's about me working as much as I can. When I'm not working I will come to hear someone I really like. When my friend who's older then me does a big dance and I'm free I will show up to have fun with him. Take pictures and video of the event. I will get my old ass out on the dance floor to act silly.

Bottom line is I just want to hear you play. It's not about you proving something to me idiot because I'm not paying you. Your job is to make the owner and patrons coming there happy so the owner doesn't want to replace you. Now as far as me not making people at events where I'm the DJ, that's not true. No I'm not the Hip Hop and R & B DJ of today and I'm comfortable with that. My partner is excellent at that. I'm happy and proud of who I am.

Now as far as how much you get paid, that's on you. You can tell us anything. How do we know you're telling the truth. While I'm at it I never saw a picture of you. Let alone a picture of you doing an event. What's wrong? Are you that ugly you don't want to show a picture of you? Now let me say this. Any bar I've worked at has never fired me. They either shut down or I stopped playing there because I didn't like what was going on in the place. Normally it was the first thing. Now I've had people that no me ask where am I playing at now. That was before the shut down. Just didn't find a place to play somewhere once Ashanti's closed down. I'm 62 years old happy to still be alive. My top priority when playing somewhere is can people who come to hear me play both young and old feel safe in the pllace so they will want to come back and bring a friend or 2?

Mixy, same old thing with you. Safe place, partner can do it. I dont need another person to help me do a gig. I can play anything that is asked of me. You want to come down when the bars/clubs open back up be my guest I have nothing to hide. Again you limit yourself to a 3 mile area to play in and therefore you will not find any place safe. Go 10 miles down the road and start asking bar owners if you can play there.

more like 1 mile... 3 miles would get him to a venue that's in the top 5 most expensive in the state. 5 miles gets him to one of the most expensive zip codes in the entire country (short hills). 10 miles and its a whole new world of possibilities.

Wrong as usual about not having a safe place here. There are safe and non safe places here and other areas too. I said it before it's all in how a place is being run.

It's not that I'm dying to hear you play. I just want to know does your feet match your mouth. You keep bragging about how great a DJ you are and the bars you play at pay you a whole lot of money. Also you get paid a hepe of money to do private events. That's nice. Now how do we know you're not lying? Where's your evidence!? Others say they have seen you post things on here. I've been on here for years and the other forum. I have never seen you post a thing. You're great at typing. You don't have to keep reminding me that you can play any style of music. I don't really give a s***! I do what I do and I'm proud at what I do.

I got to give DJ Taso a big shout out because not only does he tell us how much his clients pay him but he shows lots of evidence why he's worth what he charges and he has plenty of clients will to pay him what he wants.

You on the other hand have a big ego problem. I say that because you constantly feel the need to tell us how much you get paid to do gigs. It's great if you're doing this to motivate others . It's another thing when you are blowing smoke up your butt. I do wish you well in your life and your business thou. Just deflate your ego a bit. I won't say you're not good because I really don't know what you are. Just remember there's always somebody better than you.

Again, no ego here, No claiming I am the greatest of all time. What I am saying is I have created a clientele who is willing to pay me because of what I do. I have no need to prove anything to anyone except my family who I feed and shelter. If you want to come see me that I have no problem with it because again I have nothing to hide. As for posting vlogs or anything else. Simple answer I just dont do it. I very rarely take videos at my events. I do not need to tand therefore do not do it. I have posted a few things here before but would have to look to see when they were up.

As for Taso I agree he does an incredible job and he does things differently then I do and he has put into his business model the Vlogs which is great. Here is the thing you dont listen to anything he tells you either. You just dont want to leave your little comfort zone and I get that to a point but then when you complain or state you want to make more money per gig and refuse to learn more because you wont leave that comfort zone well then it Is delusional.

I put a like to your post because I agree with most of what you said.

And all this is why I do it for free . if I rock it cool if I flop it cool . but all in all I'm getting paid by seeing all the happy faces getting something they enjoy for free and just a note I was asked at three events by people were is the tip jar .nope don't have one except I just ask them to pay it forward .I do love money and we all should but its nice to be able to make money not using my love of music . I make my money in the forest cleaning up trash for the federal government . and i would do it for free to but its not that simple accountability safety and HazMat n so on so cant do it free.

Many here are mobile DJs and do it for their living, and "free" doesn't pay the bills. I have no issue with anyone doing it for the love of doing it.

Yawn. CMON Steve. Everyone knows that DJs don't really work, and this is nothing more than a hobby! In reality, DJs should be paying the party hosts for having the pleasure of Deejaying at their party! We have been conning people into paying us to stand there, push buttons, and play music for years!

We should probably be paying people any where from $100 to $500 for being so gracious to choose us to be their DJ at every gig! This isn't a real business...just something we do for fun since our lives are so dull! :cheers2::reallydrunk::popcorn:

Everyone knows REAL jobs are only being employed working for a company helping produce other's success and wealth, or the Government! Not this self employment stuff. 🤭💩

Welcome DJ Free, as in you are welcome to try bettter at your next act of protagonism.

well Crap I wasn't trying to hurt feelings .I'm just in love with music and all the happiness it brings to people . I do believe it is hard work and a very respectful job to be a dj. I am just A dj not the best hope not the worst . I will never give it up its part of me. but my day job pays me much more in four hours then most DJs make at small events like bars n weddings . I don't do those type of events . I know most of the people I dj for on a first name bases .I mean the whole crowd . I don't think most DJs would like my event locations .

I'm not personally offended by anyone choosing not to charge for their time. But if you catch any flak for it, it's because it essentially lowers the market rate for DJs in general. Why pay anyone to do something if someone else will do it for free.

I take the other side of that argument... if you can steal my clients from me by not charging anything, then they never really valued me to begin with. And I'd also be surprised if your offering can be comparable unless you have put A LOT of money and effort into the "hobby."

But I love that you're passionate about it. As long as you're finding stuff that fits you... rock on.

There are many of who make $1500 or significantly more for weddings

I agree that weddings can pay well . I was only referring to the lower end of dj gigs in general. the ones fresh DJs or like myself a hobbies dj would get if i was looking in that direction. my friend dj dirty moly has bin much help to me in advice she does many under 500 events yet she can rock the house. if I was wanting a dj to do an event I would pay her much more . plus it depends on were you live if you live in tiny town you might cap in low numbers.

I live n a town of less than 2500 people, they make things called vehicles so you can travel to events that pay better
