Got to get ready to move the van so I don't get another parking ticket.

I thought I would just ask how do you plan to proceed with your DJ business this year?

I was thinking of getting on Mixcloud and spinning on there. I'm waiting on things to get better so we can go back to doing events the way we dod before the shutdowns happened causing some to go out of business and others costing them jobs they had lined up to do last year. My friend had a number of events that got canceled. Quite a few were yearly events he did.

Ourselves we barely had any work last year. As soon as business was picking up the shutdown came with no way to control what was happening.

I plan on staying strong and keeping my faith. I believe things will get better in the coming months, just have to see how things go. Won't be buying anything for the business right now because we have more than enough. We need to use what we got and make money from that.

My partner is anticipating on us getting in the future a 2k stimulus check and said if we get it I would buy more speakers. No way Jose! My plan would be is to be conservative and just get work done on the van.

Well I would buy another coffin for the backup controller.

Mix... you do know in Jersey events are allowed to happen for up to 150 people right? I have a wedding in a few weeks followed by a few events in March. What about you?
I didn't know that and right now nothing. Let me ask this please sir. What is the cut off time for an event in Jersey? Is it 10-11PM or what? Last I heard the capacity for having an event in doors was based on a percentage of how many people the venue can hold.

Events just end by ten, but that hasn’t been an issue for many. And yes it’s 25% of capacity or 150ppl max. Most banquet halls have rooms that can hold 800+ (without tables).

I don't know what's more puzzling .. the fact that you had to move your van at 2am or the fact that you had to post this before moving your van.

For me it was the fact he called it a business....

Honestly, I prefer to have events end at 10:00 p.m. That means I can tear down, and load out, and likely be home before mid night. As I have gotten older, I personally do not like deejaying to mid night or later and getting home in the wee hours of the morning. If you ask me, 10 p.m. is the perfect time for a wedding reception to end! 5:00 ceremony, 5:30 to 6:30 cocktail hour, 6:30 to 10:00 reception is PERFECT all around unless it's a big wedding. Then starting at 4 p.m. would be Best. 10:30 p.m. is a good time to end as well! :)

I quoted one the other day 2 PM ceremony, 5PM dinner and 9 PM-1AM dance. Any I do rarely end before 12 and it's usually 1AM sometimes 2AM

Mix can you give us a break down on how many events you had last year compared to how many you had this year? Also shouldn't you know exactly what is allowed and not allowed in your state when you are trying to run a business (yes I laughed when I said that).

For some it’s not an issue, but for the cultural events it’s definitely an issue. For example Greeks and many other European and middle eastern events go way past 12. It’s not normal for dinner to be anytime before 9/10 pm in their everyday lives. Certain Latin groups won’t end a party before 2am.

personally I like 11-12 end times the most

The event business will not be worth pursuing in this area for the remainder of the year.

Nonetheless, I plan to buy up and buy out every last vinyl record in preparation for the "great reconciliation." Once we have the truth ministry in place the demand for uncensored non-digital trace-less media will explode. So, I got that going for me.

I predict the rarest and biggest returns on media from pop hits: songs about rebellious youth, teen angst, the workin' man, and anything by Spandau Ballet. Country - themes like:true love, intact family, patriotism, and feelin' free are probably going to set new black market price records.

Honestly I haven't kept up because all the big talk is Covid 19 and how many people died today. I googled the info for the restrictions and it mentioned Covid 19. I didn't ask a damn thing about Covid 19. I'm just not into feeding info what the media wants you to focus on. That's just so they can scare people into taking the vaccine.

I think they planted watermarks in LP and 45 tracks a long time ago, so you may have to go back to 78s and 16 2/3s .. maybe even wax .. .

Yea .. no need to keep up if you aren't running a business. And good luck with gigs when they start up and request/require proof of vaccination to perform .. :)
