My plan is to go to the Crickette Club in Irvington, NJ to hear the Silver Stars sing. I used to work with one of the members in the group. His brother sings with him too. I'm trying to find out if my friend I met up with again that we were in a relationship in the past can go. It's $50 a ticket. I know I'm going. The doors open at 7PM. The Silver Stars are very famous around here. They did ashow once with the Whispers in Newark, NJ at Symphony Hall. They are really good. It should be a great time with a mature crowd. Just wondering who the DJ will be for this event. Happy Holidays to you all.

I confirmed that the NYE prospect I had decided to cancel their party due to Covid Exposure. That is 3 strikes out for NYE gigs.

Working during the day. Chillin' at home at night. I do plan to do some drinking since I have not consumed any alcohol since Thanksgiving!

This is why after Covid began, I REALLY emphasized only booking Weddings. There are a few sweet 16's from past clients and very strong referrals, but other than that, my future going forward has been Weddings weddings weddings. Other events just don't have that same commitment right now. Just the slightest scare and they cancel. I'm seeing all these corporate parties getting cancelled... however Weddings in general, are still happening despite the surge, and even if they cancel, they ultimately postpone the celebration, as opposed to other events that just cancel altogether.

I reached out to all my couples between now and March, and with the exception of one being postponed because her parents/relatives country has banned travel to the US, all of them said they have no intentions on cancelling/postponing, unless local restrictions say otherwise. Couples just don't want to go through all the postponing, replanning, praying their vendors are all available, and delaying in general... especially if the overwhelming are vaccinated and if this is as mild as a cold (my brother in laws, girlfriends sister just got it yesterday, and all she has is a cough).

OMICRON is going to be a cold for 98% of people. I know like 18 people now that have contracted Covid in the last week. One of them said it's about the worst sickness they have ever had and just went to the hospital this morning. The other 17 all say it's cold symptoms and they are just waiting it out at home. One family of 5 all has it.

The hospitals here aren't really admitting covid patients unless there is a major reason to do so. A news article I was reading said many go to the hospital out of fear, and when we tell them everything checks out fine, they're on their way home. When my dad and mom both went in September, despite my mom feeling absolutely miserable with fevers/aches/fatigue and having diabetes, they said she has no reason to be in a hospital based on her symptoms and to just ride it out at home (which she did and was fine a few days later), whereas my dad, they noticed a significant drop in oxygen levels, and upon further tests found he had covid pneumonia. Those are the patients they essentially admit. Just curious if the person you know actually got admitted.

She is 38 yrs old, and was admitted but not in ICU. I know she is a smoker. I have another friend who is 34, just had a 3rd baby son about 5 weeks ago, and caught Covid. Her husband and 3 kids have it. I know a number of people in their mid 20s that just caught it. Some extended family members got it. One is 75 years old, and hardly ever leaves her house. We think one of her grand children was asymptomatic and gave it to her. She was in the hospital, but was told to go home after 1 night there. She still has symptoms after 8 days or so of symptoms. She was not vaccinated though.
 
I know a lot of people are buying pulse-oximeters for their home. These <$20 devices tell you the oxygen saturation within your blood. The normal range is 95-100%. A reading below 90% is indicative of hypoxemia. This could mean that supplemental oxygen may be warranted. It seems that as long as we have Covid around, it is a nice addition to the medicine cabinet to go with your thermometer.

I'm DJing the lounge I play in DC. I'll be more than 10 days past the start of my symptoms (even though I know the guidance just dropped). Double the normal pay.

I'm not a big fan of new years parties. I'd much rather work than try to go out somewhere myself. I often find that it's a weird DJing night though.

Lots of nights you see people filter in and out all night long. So you'll get "fresh blood" to a party all the way up until about 1:30am in DC. I've still had lines out the door at that point. NYE people tend to stay put in one space, wait for the ball drop, party a bit longer and then go home. I find that you don't get that fresh wave of people for a late night crowd. But this will be my first time playing Capo's NYE, so maybe their pattern is different.

I already said I was going to hear the group Silver Stars perform. Besides that I'm not setup to do zoom this year. I still have the Pioneer monitor speakers in the apartment. I just don't have the gear setup to play. I haven't had it setup in a long time since the CD recorder I had stopped working and cost too much to fix. I was planning on buying another one but haven't. I forgot about buying another one.

I always found NYE to be amateur hour for drinkers people that are very light drinkers become superman NYE. That being said I played every one from 1983-2017. I missed 2018 played 2019 and of course missed last year. This year has been cancelled also

I just found out from my friend one of the members from Silver Stars got sick and the event is cancelled. I will call my friend the guy I used to work with to confirm it.
