I think those bars just look tacky. Took a really clean design and gave it unnecessary lines
...Even the multiple totem-with-mover look is getting cliche...
...As far as setting up 2 laptops. I did that this past Saturday, and glad that I did set up both of my Laptops...
It may be getting dated , but I really like the movers on totems look, paired with some wash light. I do agree with Taso here, when set up properly is a very clean and streamlined look.the totems may be getting standard... but when set up properly, they create a very clean streamlined look. Also, they're only standard amongst the mid-high tier dj setups, meaning the avg guest still does not see them too often depending on who their circle of friends hire. The other thing with them is, you don't even need to put them by the dj booth... you can even put them in the corners for the room as they don't look out of place.
yeah... the only people deciding any of this is cliche is us....
i still see dj gig logs on youtube with guys rocking a mini kinta strapped to one speaker pole and a derby on the other one...or one chinese mover sitting on a table......
i truly hope we can settle on something as a quality light show and let it last a while... the only people winning this war are the manufacturers...
....because I no longer do weddings, as well as approaching 72 years old, everything is modular. The heaviest/largest thing I deal with are my 15" subs @ 42 pounds. My DIY console sits on a black fabric covered folding table, high enough I can stand/dance behind it - I never sit. However, the true Litmus Test is it all must fit in only the trunk and back seat of a regular passenger car, lights included - nothing in the passenger seat - and that it sound good. That's really the only two requirements!
I wonder if one of these would be a good place to start ... Something like this...

... Not sure if the weight of the EVOX-8 base unit would be enough to keep the totem from being too top heavy???
That's a VERY COOL Totem... Never seen it before. However, I'm thinkin' I like the curved lines in my design. Obviously, I'm gonna have to have it fabricated if I build this thing. I don't have the tools or skills to do it myself, but there are places around town that can do it. And you're right; it has to have a bottom plate the same size as the width of the base unit of the EVOX-8. Here's a deconstructed view of kinda how I see it fitting together...I wonder if one of these would be a good place to start ... Might have to fab a new bottom plate to match the sub dimension and then figure how to clamp it to the sub pole for stability. Scrim it and the top even gets hidden. Could go all black instead of white.
Would need to be the older (our) style units. The new J8/JMix8 don't have flat tops unfortunately.

But if you did fab it, the base plate could be say 8" wider than the sub and then bent over 3.75" on each side to keep it from moving.
