Hi everybody! My pitch bend buttons (-/+) in VDJ 8.1 and dedicated controller buttons don't increase/decrease BPM volume of any video/mp3. I'm coming from DJ Traktor and this is how I use to control smooth transitions. Wonder if anyone knows how to work around this problem. I'm really enjoying mixing videos but using BPM sliders on the controller sucks in my opinion. Cheers and thanks for any suggestions.

Which controller?

The bend does not work with the onscreen buttons. I will check my mapping file again but there was only one release and no updates. But it works with the on screen bend slider. Maybe my controller is outdated? Does your pitch bend buttons work? Thanks.

If it's still not working save a copy of your settings and reset VDJ to factory specs.

I only have VDJ Express and don't use it. Bend buttons work on Traktor and Serato.

Response from VDJ forum, still no resolution how to fix it...

''The PitchBend +/- buttons change the tempo of the track temporary. Once released, the tempo of the track will go back to the value defined by the pitch fader.
Since the tempo is changed temporary , i dont see how showing the temporary tempo value on the screen can useful for mixing.

If instead of Pitch Bending you want to have permanent tempo changes, you can use the actions pitch +/- x% (where x is the percentage that you want the pitch to change on every press)''

I agree from a mixing standpoint, the fader will be more controllable as the buttons are indeed temporary (same as on most CD players like my Denon s1200) .. but the buttons can be useful for effect and should still work.

VDJ just updated to 8.1..buttons dont' work, but they didn't work in 8.0 either

They do work if you hold them, they will increase/decrees BPM speed. I love how the pinch bend buttons work in Dj Traktor.

Traktor doesn't have pitch bend (at least natively) .. it has tempo bend, moving tempo faster/slower WITHOUT affecting pitch .. similar, but different effect. There is a tutorial on how you can do pitch bending with some customization, but MiDi hardware ties to the tempo bend.

You are correct, tempo bend. Do you have that option in Serato video?

Serato DJ (don't have video capability in mine - that's an add-on) does pitch bend and has a pitch slider mapped on my Denon MC6000mk2. Serato has an even more capable add-on called pitch 'n time. I don't use the feature anyway .. just play with it at times ..
